It's more evident than ever that the idiotic portion of our fan base that harass high schoolers is a huge negative.
I do, although, have faith that the staff can spin "us" in a positive direction.
The truth of the matter, IMO, is that although our fans are rabid and detrimental to recruiting in most cases, it's another way that NU gets kids ready for the NFL. Think about all of the abuse that floods most NFLers mentions when they make mistakes, leave a team for more money, etc.. it takes a lot of maturity to steer clear and rise above it; in some cases, even NFL players can't resist arguing with trolls. Being at Nebraska, unfortunately, exposes you to those trolls at an earlier stage in your career, allowing players to be accustomed to them, and learn to ignore the negativity.
I know it's a silver lining in an extremely annoying cloud, and we'd be better off without them, but I like to think those idiots on Twitter might be being spun as useful to these kids when it's all said and done.
Think the coaches have an "emergency Twitter troll pitch" to recruits?
