Sparty opens up 3.5 favorites over Huskers

That makes absolutely no sense. Why would you say you like Sparty, but then give stats that suggest you should take Nebraska?
Turn on the thinking skills. That was a tweet I posted from Twitter, not my thoughts.

Personally, I think it will be a 27-24 game in favor of MSU. WHich means my thoughts go against what the tweet says.

And the reason I posted the twee twas the 7-4 stat.

We'll have to win on both offense and defense because we won't win special teams. MSU's punter averages 50.1 yards per punt. Their placekicker is 66 of 90 for his career in FGs. He's 2 of 5 this year, but 2 of 3 in attempts under 50 yards. Our kicker is (ahem) having some trouble. PATs should be automatic, of course, and MSU's placekicker is perfect for his career.

Seriously, with a reasonable expectation of making a 35-yard FG twice, we take that game down to the wire. The first miss from 35 came at the end of the second half's first drive. Culp makes that and it's 7-6, then 14-6, then 14-12 after Martinez's TD run. We probably go for 2 at that point, but even a miss is better than the 3-point swing that did happen. OU then makes it 21-12 with its third TD, but instead of going for a fourth-and-forever from the OU 18 with 9 minutes left, if we can kick a 35-yard FG, it's 21-15 at that point, and we have a fighting chance down by a score. Instead, we needed two TD's and Adrian had to force a throw that was picked.

Daniel Cerni averaged 36 yards per punt through three games, but Przystup punted twice yesterday for an average of 50 yards.

Toure's ability to catch a punt and advance about 10 yards yesterday in the fourth quarter seemed like a Johnny the Jet or DeJuan Groce special compared to what we've see on the part of special teams.

In short, we need to go with the improvements we made on special teams (Przystup at P, Toure at PR), stick with the KO specialist Franke, and find someone who can routinely hit FGs from 35 and in. I don't know what happened to Chase Contreraz, but he had that ability at IWCC.

I feel like this is the "Frost Game". No, not Scott Frost, Robert Frost. Ya know, two paths diverged in a wood and all that crap. Either win this game and maybe take the path to a bowl game, or lose and take the path back to a mid-major coordinator's job. The fact that we played respectably agains OU kinda has me feeling like we've been set up for a giant kick in the balls this Saturday. I mean, we all know not to trust this team to take a linear path towards good football, right?
