The reality is, most Husker fans don't actually care what the rest of the B1G thinks.
You seem to, which while is different, and I don't mind different or contrarian views at all, it tells me your viewpoint is more about the social aspect of belonging to a group. You want to belong, to get along. To not be mocked or laughed at.
For most B1G schools, they don't care about their football programs. It's not a high priority, it doesn't define their state.
Nebraska is different in this regard. Only Ohio State could say they understand this dynamic, because they are a big deal as well.
Trying to get the fans to change their focus to just getting along with every other average no big deal B1G football program is never really going to happen. And most of us don't care if they laugh at us, because most of them will never amount to anything.
The fight to get back to where we used to be, and taking that very seriously is real and noble.
Giving up on all that, is just giving up. And that is not the Nebraska way.

That call that MJ got, the one where Ibrahim was given a first down, that was then taken away.. that was the first time I've seen a Nebraska coach get a call like that in some time. It was as if the Nebraska name (playing at home) but also the coach himself had some pull in getting that.
