New news from Moos.
Nebraska will announce late this week or early next week and it’s 50/50 on whether that opponent will be Southeastern La.
Moos said “they would have to adjust their schedule if they can’t do it we will have to talk to others sniffing around, but it’s not a easy thing and it’s not inexpensive “
FCS teams with fewer than 11 games (the FCS standard) AND a week off Sept. 4 (not including the Ivy League):
  • Sacred Heart (Northeast Conference champs in 2018)
  • Bucknell
  • Prairie View A&M (already has FBS road game at Texas A&M)
  • Texas Southern (already has FBS road games at Rice and Baylor)
FCS teams with Sept. 4 off in the Pioneer League, which does not award athletic scholarships (like the Ivy) and rarely plays against FBS teams:
  • Drake (played ISU a couple years back as a makeup game for others that were canceled)
  • Presbyterian
  • Stetson
  • Valparaiso
  • St. Thomas
FCS teams with 11 games AND a week off Sept. 4:
  • North Carolina A&T (would have to drop a non-con game)
  • Indiana State (already has FBS road game at Northwestern)
  • Alcorn State (already has FBS road game at South Alabama)
There are currently no FBS Group of 5 programs or independents that have Sept. 4 off.

moos caught with pants down after 13 months of pandemic

how could we get embarrassingly caught with our hand in the cookie jar trying to get out of the OU game and not have had a contingency for the Sept 4th open date just in case international travel wasn't going to be an option for the ILL game??

anyone flying this plane?

Open your eyes the reason why Nebraska had a open week was because they were going to be coming back from Ireland and preferred not to have a game..

Covid made November 13 game against SE La. looked like a SEC brake between Ohio St and Wisconsin but it back fired..

There were posts here about that trip being cancelled 10+ months ago, yet it seemingly completely snuck up on our AD.

10 months ago you would have been the first one on the plane ( If you wanted to go bad enough) so don’t give me Moos knew 100% that this wasn’t happening..

Of course.

I was also told that prudent businessmen look at every angle that could benefit their franchise, even if it means embarrassing yourself in the national spotlight.

That he wasn’t exploring the idea of replacing/moving this game a year ago (or more) is ridiculous.
