Oklahoma and Texas Tech set an FBS record for most combined yards in the Sooners’ 66-59 win Saturday night.

Each team had 854 yards of offense to total 1,708 yards combined, breaking the record of 1,640 yards set by San Jose State and Nevada back in 2001. And that wasn’t the only record the two teams set.

• The two teams tied the NCAA record for most first downs (74). Tech had 42 first downs while No. 16 Oklahoma had 32.

• Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes set the NCAA record for total offense in one game. Mahomes threw for 734 yards and ran for 84 yards for 819 total yards. The previous record was held by former Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday, who had 751 yards of total offense vs. Cal in 2014.

And they wonder why they never get a team in the CFB playoff!! LOL...So glad to be out of that Texass dumpster fire joke of a conference!! Enjoy kissing Bevo's beanbag former Big 8 "brothers"!! RollingLaughRollingLaugh

I would take some of that offensive production.

How is a conference with TCU, Texas, and Oklahoma so freaking bad defensively? I understand this isn't the good old days anymore and defense across the board is down because of the spread and other factors, but why is it SO bad? Those are PlayStation numbers for gawds sake and they happen every weekend in that conference.

while pundits around here will somewhat acknowledge defense is shit in b12, it's become somewhat acceptable because (it's like cognitive dissonance) the offenses are 'so good'.

Why would any star defensive player want to play in that conference??

I wonder if stud 18 y/o's with choices view the Big 12 with the same distain we do? I have my doubts. I know many of us hate that place, but do all those highly rated 4 stars in that area feel the same? Think of the location and the sheer number of great players, you really think they can't lure enough to field a competitive defense? Plus, defense has been lacking there for a really long time, long before that boat started taking on water. Maybe your theory has some merit now, but what about the last 10 years?
