Was curious on how this team stats compared to what UCF did in 2016 and 2017. Here is what I found. All came from here. Please let me know if you see or find a mistake. http://www.cfbstats.com/2016/team/128/index.html From my quick take of this is, don't lose hope based off of year 1. UCF year 1 looks very similar to ours. Minus our insane penalties.

Interesting. Good to compare but probably can't really draw too many conclusions. Biggest thing to take away is we aren't scoring and the defense and special teams is giving up too many points.

UCF gave up yards but not so many points.

I think the penalties are the biggest reason for the points difference

Penalties are killing us. Just when they get in a groove and start moving the ball and gaining some confidence, someone jumps or gets caught holding to negate a big play. At that point you can feel the air being sucked out. Gotta get mentally tough.

True. They were probably getting more of the 5 yard stuff. We tend to get more of the 15 yard stuff on defense, 10 yd holding calls on offense and the block in the back on special teams that have negated a couple really nice field position changing returns.

You can get away with a few more penalties which UCF did in 2017 if you are better than the competition is. We can't afford to do that at this point.

All about QB play.

UCF had Blake Bortles, a 63% QB and now we have Milton, a 65-70% QB. In between that time, we had an awful QB Justin Holman who was a 49-50% passer. Guy couldn't hit the broadside of a barn.

Martinez is at 59.7 Milton is at 59.6
