So what did Gerry DiNardo say about Nebraska.....

....that has Chris Baker from kfab all worked up?

Not sure about recently, but pre-season DiNardo was down about our overall progress.

DiNardo himself last week said he fully expected to "hear it" from NU fans as he was in town this week.

Iirc during their tour of all campuses in the fall he was quite down on the Huskers. They normally are all sunshine and rainbows about EVERY team. But I believe he said we should be happy if we make a bowl game. Was not very positive about us at all.

I think he said "A good season would be making a bowl game" or something close to that.

Instead of attacking the man personally, can we try to keep the debate to what he said?
Perhaps someone can post the text of what he said to begin.
Imagine that! It's so much easier to just personally tear down a person.

He saw one practice, and he as admitted it was based off on one practice. The practice that he witnessed was not a good one, in terms of crispness and execution. We didn't look good. He made his comments based off of what HE saw. When it comes to college football pre-season predictions, he said he prefers to use his own observations to form his opinion rather than what others are saying about a team. I can respect that. I understand that he limits his sample size, but he was speaking based on what he saw.

Also, do we need to be so offended by an analyst saying he didn't think we would be very good? I posted this in another thread, but are we that emotionally fragile that we need to react by doing anything we can to tear down and discredit the person? He gave his opinion just as we are all able to form our own opinions of the team. And yes, we are within our rights to say whatever ugly thing about someone else that we want, but just because you have the right to do so doesn't make it right to do it.

I've seen several "Husker fans" give a far more scathing opinion of the football team then Jerry.

You're correct that he based it off of one practice, but he didn't make that caveat when he made his prediction for our season. And making a prediction for an entire season based on viewing one practice when you know that the one practice you watch may not be representative of how the team had been practicing(which was the case for us) I don't think is a very good way to operate.

Totally agree. I think he mentioned it when someone asked him about how he formed his opinion. I probably wasn't clear enough with my "small sample size" comment. I would probably do more research before making a prediction, but I can also respect him for making a prediction based on what he saw with his two eyes. I disagreed with it then and still do, but I understand why he said it.

So this dude at KFAB is just now getting worked up over something said 5 weeks ago? I know they aren't the flagship station anymore but i am pretty sure the news isn't taking this long to get to them.

Guess we will see at 2:06 per Chris Baker as he will be interviewing DiNardo

Sports talk radio is a total waste of time. Hooray for those that make their living off of it. But seriously, sports talk radio is like click bait internet articles. Little substance and just enough hype to keep the listeners from doing another activity. After about 30 minutes of getting sucked in you realize that your time would be better spent bs'ing with your buddies over a few beers. That's what they are good at. A lot of talk about nothing.

DiNardo had a strong reaction to what Hal Daub said. My guess is that it is related to that, not his prediction for the year.

If you listen to Baker for any time at all, you would recognize that he was teasing the upcoming interview with light hearted references to how mad some fans got over Dinardo's comments about the Husker's chances.

Message boards a total waste of time. Hooray for those that make their living off of it. But seriously, message boards are like click bait internet articles.
