OPS buys the property of the old Bishop Ryan High for 58 million. This is on NE corner of 60th & L. The former Ryan bldg to leveled and a new HS built on sight after passing of recent 400 mil Bond Issue.
So what do we name this new Omaha HS ? Who decides? Board of Ed ?
Any offerings? Directional naming wont work unless called Omaha South Central and that isn't happening.
The other new OPS HS will likely be named Omaha Alfonza W. Davis Sr High School after the Tuskegee Airman who won the Purple heart and of course the Distinguished Flying Cross.
I was thinking Omaha Johnny Rosenblatt High could work. A fine Omaha Mayor, A name Omahans and Nebraskans love. A legendary Baseball player. A Jewish Omahan who would make future Jewish Omahans proud that their contribution to the making of Omaha and Nebraska was recognized.
I think this has potential.
