Who's your sleeper pick ? Every year it seems like a depth piece emerges to be a big contributor. For me that dark horse is Lutovsky, no legit reason just a feeling.
I agree with both GBRSleepers for me are:
Safety / Rover - Freshman Fields. He may not start early, but becomes a factor as time goes along
Corcoran - Has been overhyped and sucked for 2 years. I think he is going to be motivated with better coaching and has a good year
That's a really good call. The guy has been productive when he played. He will have the opportunity to catch a lot of passes this year. What we could really use is IGC to have a career year. We know kemp and Washington will be guys but would be so helpful to our offense if IGC comes on and looks like his Ireland self all season.
Hartzog kind of reminds me Gomes. Not going to get a ton of hype but has a knack for making plays. And is versatile. One of the shows on 1620 thought he would play or even start at safety if Hill or a young guy (Nation?) was playing good enough. Also not really sleepers but I have very high hopes for our corners
Newsome and Hartzog are all-B1G (or more) types
Lutovsky is a sign that nature is healing. Back when the Pipeline of a pipeline of all league and all american players, most OL guys didn't play much until their fourth year. A couple of second half series in blowouts before they put the true scrubs in, maybe some rotational work as third year players. He has shown potential, and now he is a key backup in his third year. This year will be the first in awhile where the Oline experience level is where is should be - guys in their last two years of eligibility.Who's your sleeper pick ? This is where I was going also.Fields is a great choice, he’s a diamond in the rough. I’m also going with 2 another Freshman in Princell U and Cameron Lenhart.

Yes, Fields is who I'm thinking of.Sleepers for me are:

Verne Gagne with the sleeper hold. Nowadays, rear naked choke.
I would, how many true freshman defensive lineman have made an impact at Nebraska?Wouldn't call those two sleepers as preseason Fr AA
Grant Wistrom did for sure but other than that for true freshmen I don't really recall many others who made an 'impact'I would, how many true freshman defensive lineman have made an impact at Nebraska?
Did Lawrence Pete? I don’t think so..
From what Matt Rhule said, it’s possible it’s more than just the NCAA. Could be Georgia or LSU holding the waiver up too.IGC and Tommi Hill high-ceiling guys that were left for dead last year.
And the biggest X-factor could be Arik Gilbert. He could get blue balls from the NCAA and not play, but he could also get his waiver and be an All-Conference TE.
I’d except that but he was a rush end… 3-3-5 can be flexible so that is why I think both are sleepers.. Lenhart seems more like tackle and Princewill is a edge rusher..Grant Wistrom did for sure but other than that for true freshmen I don't really recall many others who made an 'impact'
Eric Fields, I've been saying that before he committed. His film jumps. He came from off the radar but can get on the field (pun intended) this year.
People are definitely sleeping on LLoyd because he seemed like a project. He can fly and is committed to being a football player. He's not just a track guy we're hoping works out. Still tough, WR is a little bit more cerebral than RB for example. A great freshman RB can get on the field immediately.Jaylen Llyod on offense. He’s the truest deep threat we have @ WR and as the year goes on, I think he learns the spot. Maybe not a high volume per catches a game kind of kid, but when he catches it, it will count.
Fields on D. Kid will find a way on the field.
Remember we needed UCF to sign off on Noah Vedral, it took them until at least 4 games until they signed the paperwork. Cost us a game or two. Gilbert could be a fiasco with two schools. From what Matt Rhule said, it’s possible it’s more than just the NCAA. Could be Georgia or LSU holding the waiver up too.
But agreed on Gilbert. We need size and age at the LOS.
Was that supposed to be funny? The sleeper:
Mark Vedral
I forgot to laugh too.Was that supposed to be funny?
Felt too lame to warrant a responseWas that supposed to be funny?
I only did it because dingle did.Felt too lame to warrant a response
Kerry Weinmaster, who would go on to be All America by his senior year, lettered as a true freshman at nose tackle. I believe he was the first lineman at NU to letter as a frosh after they reinstated the eligiblity rule for freshman. Guy was a freak playing NT at less than 220lbs.Grant Wistrom did for sure but other than that for true freshmen I don't really recall many others who made an 'impact'
Forgot about him, great memory, believe he shared starting time with Odious Lee during his sophomore year but lettered as a true freshman..Kerry Weinmaster, who would go on to be All America by his senior year, lettered as a true freshman at nose tackle.
