This is how we rolled!

Holgerson’s age is less of a factor than his close relationship with Mike Leach who was most certainly not a players coach. Neither was Charlie McBride.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
I bet he stays on as TE coach as he know's his chances as OC are forever gone anywhere as he stunk it up at 2 seperate P4 schools and his TEs looked phoenominal Saturday. I bet he takes a pay cut and stays.

He might but I’ve heard coaches talk about how many boomer head coaches are going to be retiring and the fact that there’s a shortage of young coaches with the right kind of experience to take their spots. He could end up as a head coach at a lower level program.

What ever happened to the rumor that Satt had sold his house last winter and his family had moved back east? I believe Satt knew Rhule wanted to replace him last winter. I have to believe he’ll want to start over elsewhere.

An examination of Satterfield’s coaching history shows him as kind of a default for Rhule. He got the OC job at Temple after the chosen dude backed out and then left for a head-coaching gig at Tennessee Tech the year before rule left for Baylor. He got fired from that gig and then Rhule picked him up as a TEs coach for a couple of years at Baylor. After getting fired from the Panthers he went to the often discussed gig at South Carolina. Satterfield is a TEs coach at the Big 10/SEC level and Rhule should’ve hired a proper coordinator from the get go. We don’t know what was discussed with Holgersson earlier in the year but I wonder if he wasn’t trying to get him to come on as coordinator and Dana wasn’t ready to come off the shelf yet.

He tried hiring a couple of other guys. People quickly forget the mess Mickey’s problem caused. In hindsight it’s pretty obvious he tried to hire Dana with probably the same title as Thomas got as Co-OC but you can be damned sure Dana would have been calling plays. Rhule isn’t an idiot. He knew last winter he wanted a different play caller.

It's not just about calling plays, it's about authority and accountability. No way we would have seen the transformation we have in 2 games without DH being able to instill those things in a very short amount of time. And you can't do those things on a broad level while being a subordinate.
