SI's Greatest CFB Photos

Thanks for sharing..Sure they will be making a coffee top table book for the 150th year in college Football..

I do have a SI book: College Football Greatest that have a lot of these same photos in them..

Notably Jerry Tagge turn jersey against OU in 1971..

Easy trivia - who can name the Husker QB who's trying to throw over Lee Roy Selmon?

Two of Suh at least.

They got the date wrong of Peyton standing in the collapsing pocket against us.

Such a weird collection. Some great photos, no doubt. But some really odd choices. Aaron Greens TD with TCU? The close up of a guy from Central Michigan that is pretty generic? Two ones of Suh but not the one where he is standing (what looks like) alone looking at the Texas o-line huddled up? As other mentioned, Crouches neck is absent. Also some terrible fact checking and incorrect info. 1999 Tennessee vs Nebraska game? Really? ‘Nebraska QB’ against Oklahoma? Couldn’t google that name?

It seems more like a ‘Top 150 college pictures we own and had readily available’ list than a truly top 150 college photos list. There’s just a lot of players shown with no real impact on the history of the game, games that have no real impact on the history of the game and wrong moments/lesser pictures of the games/players that did have an impact on the game.

Looking at the picture toward the top of Schnellenberger, I don't think the Orange Bowl locker rooms changed at all between Jan 2, 1984, and Jan 1, 1995.

Great seeing so many Huskers (even if sometimes we are on the losing end)! But the fact is, most of these photos are simply of great players. They are not great photographs. Many are very typical (and forgettable) action shots.

I liked the long time SI center 2 page photo/ add in the 80's that was a Stadium overview shot of all the players dotting the field stretching with the words "So high school hot shot, how does it feel to be just another number?"
