SIAP: Riley on Oregon radio

Great interview... Wife still in Corvallis and has been back from time to time... Imagine she'll be back in Lincoln for Easter....

He said she will be the one that pick's out the new house and they haven't made the total move to Lincoln yet.... That has to be tough on both of them.

I thought it was VERY interesting.

I thought there was a hint of "I didn't know it would be quite like this" in terms of the interest and focus of the fans and state for that matter.

I sure hope it goes well for him, impossible guy not to like.

I didn't take that away. When the host said 9 wins at OSU would be fabulous and seven years of it got his predecessor canned Riley was like, yeah, that is the way it is, I knew that going in. Then he went on about how he had pressure to win at the junior college he was at.

What I took away is it still seems he is finding his way being one of "us". The way he talks about fans is those fans or the people, not "our fans". He always refers to "the place", not "my place" or "our place". He talks about having Nebraska clothing on as being strange. His wife still spends more time in Corvallis than Lincoln. No biggie, it will come with time, but I think he still feels like a bit of an outsider.
