I’m starting to have a little empathy for Satt given that I believe he’s doing the job to the best of his abilities. It’s unfortunate he has to be our punching bag when the head man is the one who employed him to do a job he can’t do.

Good but painful read. Thanks for the link. We have 2 weeks to prepare for USC. A reassignment between Satterfield & Thomas should be worked on during this time.

It seems so obvious and necessary but part of me is worried that if we don’t fire Satt now, he might pull one decent game out of his ass and give Rhule enough false justification to keep his bum ass for another season.
I think Dannen needs to find a politically judicious way to get the message to Rhule; that he needs to make changes or I’m cleaning house and starting over with my guy.
Pretty much nailed it. I hope we hire a general manager. It creates a buffer for the Athletic Director. A GM would force his hand. A GM is not renewing this guy‘s contract. He’s out on the street. Suck it up Rhule. The GM should have no ties to Nebraska.

He’s made a ton of money at something he isn’t very good at. You should save the empathy.
The Peter principle explains football coaching hires to a tee. How many positions coaches get promoted and fail at coordinating, or how many coordinators get promoted to head coach only to fail miserably.
Sad part is he’s been doing this a while. His track record is what it is. We’d be absolute fools to expect any different.
The real concern for me is Rhules possible inability at evaluation (or maybe it’s instinct). Sims was a disaster, Satt is Satt. Two pretty important pieces, both of them appearing to be rather large misses at this point, and it is still in the infancy stages of his time here. Who else is in positions, making critical decisions, that shouldn’t be. Point being, are we screwed for the next 3-4 years because we don’t have a guy who can (for one reason or another) bring in the right people?

Once Satt gets his QB and more time(can’t make kids learn new terminology), then this offense is gonna cook!!!
Here is the deal... His son puts his pants on one leg at a time just like the rest of us. If Dominique Raiola is going to be that dad he isn't helping shit. I get it that Satterfield is struggling with any consistency, but I have seen Dylan miss wide open receivers when he had 5 seconds to make a decision. I am sure Dylan's shit stinks too
The only thing I do not like is that the coaches need to teach Dylan that this isn't high school, he doesn't have NFL players to throw to and he needs to learn how to play within the flow of the offense. Satterfield isn't helping because his offense is so freaking predictable it is scary.
With all that said, firing Satt isn't going to happen until Rhule has a plan in place. Right now he isn't ready to make that move. I want nothing more than for the offensive staff to be replaced, but I also know it is a process and you have to have a suitable plan before you pull the trigger. Right now the best thing is hiring an interum, but that isn't going to get a W against any of the 3 teams we are going to face

Ruhle has to accept blame for hiring Satterfield. That part is on him. Anyone who watched Satterfield and what he did at just South Carolina alone seen this coming. If you didn't you either didn't see what Satterfield was doing or you fell for the old banana in the tail pipe that the Nebraska media and new coach always sell you when they come in to Lincoln.
I don't have empathy for Satterfield though. I normally don't bring up money but this dude is probably a top 10 paid OC in the country and trots out a Jr High offense into the field weekly. Hell it gets worse with a week to prepare lol. We should just work everyday thru the bye and scrimmage hard and don't game plan and or self scout at all. He's a trainwreck.

How about a series of hurry-up instead of the same effing set each time? Smash their ass for a series while they are moving their front around. Let one of your backs have some fun while they are not in position. Make THEM adjust so your QB can get a read on what they are doing and settle in.

Did you guys hear the broadcast talking about how our o-line gives away run vs pass based on their stance? If that's true, it's so dumb I can't find the words to say how I feel about it.

Could he make another bad hire? Sure but imo it HAS to happen. Year end Satterfield will be gone almost immediately imo. Otherwise u are basically committing suicide as HC at Nebraska.

I'd like to remind you that you said you'd rather go 5-7 with an L to CU than 4-8 with a W over them, so please leave the head to head stuff out. would hate to see you hypocritically argue against a post/point you were quite proud of just months ago.
The reality is that Deion’s team is tied for 2nd in the big 12 and can make the championship game. Win that and guess what, they do the impossible and make the playoffs. I hope it happens because we can always hang our hat on beating them this year !!!
