Should Nebraska use NIL to get a PR/KR?

How much would this be worth?

I’m all for saving the half billion dollars for nicer seats and bathrooms in South Stadium to buy better players via the guise of NIL. A nicer ambience isn’t going to make people want to go to the game as much as a better product is. Tickets for tomorrow are selling on Stub Hub for the price of a cheese Runza meal.

Yeah I guess I don’t understand the urgency for the South Stadium rebuild. My hunch there’s some boosters wanting more luxury boxes. Put nice seat back seats in South Stadium and people would forget about the distance to the John.

I just heard from a guy tonight who found tickets for $6 ea. 😮

Brother, it pains to say this… (because I have some of the best seats in the south stadium) But you’re right. As much as I would love to have my seats in a new pimped out south stadium, which I’ll seemingly get, I’d opt to delay the project for 3-6 years to redirect donor funds towards NIL. That wooden bench feels just fine when we’re up 21 in the 3rd quarter. 🙂

10-15 years ago I used to have 20-30 people asking me if I had an extra ticket or two. Now… crickets, nobody wants to go. This shit has to end.

For 20 years, other than DPE, we recruit a bunch of guys where coaches say this guy could return kicks for us too and every year, it's the same bullshit. You'd think catching a punt and running with it after is as complex as putting a man on Mars.

The early start doesn’t help but IF we had beaten MSU, ticket demand would be much better.

Gees you have a good memory. I can't remember the last time we were up 21 in the 3rd.

It takes a different kind of kid to catch punts with P5 safeties bearing down on you. In general high schoolers aren’t dealing with somebody in their face and a 4+ second hang time.

Something I didn’t realize was how much the wind swirls coming through our corner entrance tunnels more so than some other stadiums. I think Tommy Armstrong was talking about it making it tough to catch punts.

DPE had 3 punt returns for TD his freshman year. DeJuan Groce had 4 his senior year in 2002. Doubt we've had that many combined in the other 20+ years this century. We've forgotten how those can turn a game around.

The juice isn’t worth the squeeze imo. More pressing needs at this juncture.

Amen!!

We are.currently sitting at 120th in punt returns. We've got a whopping 24 yards of field position through 9 games. That less then 3 per game. I thought this bullschmit was over, guess not. Play the $#$%= game. Why do we think we can gloss over margins like this?
Not this team, not this year.

But Mr. Pascal, its scary fielding punts.

Wusses.

You’re not wrong. Billy Kemp showed some aptitude. Bullocks probably won’t be back there again. Something tells me their options aren’t consistently catching the ball in practice.

Have you ever caught a punt in a game? Asking for a friend.

I returned punts for 3 straight years

Zero fair catches, zero muffs, zero fumbles

Downed on once, it was the biggest play of my career.

So much punt return talk on this forum…

Does anyone watch how often other teams return punts vs. fair catch?
We're 120th, that should tell you something. Nebraska's history of success is based upon doing things other schools didn't want to bother with. This ain't Florida, Texas, or California, we don't have any advantages other than work ethic, which is where we've faltered these past twenty years.
Unless you're playing prevent, punts should be setup to return or block. I like that we at least put some pressure on as that effects things.

120th is worse than our QB ranking

Yet there are plenty of excuses to be had

Typical

Feels like maybe there's a happy medium there. Could they do the south stadium for half that amount and kick the can down the road on the rest of it?

Full disclosure, I don't know what all is included in that 450, and maybe that's just what stuff costs this day. But to your point, are the troughs all that bad when you're crossing streams with other fans that are just as happy to be up 3 tds as you are?

Piss troughs do kinda suck. But I’d much rather have a good team and piss troughs, than the current on field product and nice new private stalls…
