Usually your middle linebacker or whatever you want to call him, is the QB of the defense. He's responsible for making the defensive calls and communicating them to the rest of the team. Now, who is our QB on defense and how much has he played? Was it Bando or MRI? How much has that loss of our "defensive QB" hurt us in our ability to make the right calls and communicate it to our DBs. Riley expressed disgust Monday after watching the film with guys that were clearly not doing what they were supposed to be doing. Was it inexperience or bad communication in part because of all the turmoil with injuries to our experienced linebackers esp. Bando and MRI? Most just assume that if you have a linebacker in the middle that all you are replacing is his individual ability. Its more than that. Imagine losing TA right now and what that would mean for our offense not only from a ability standpoint but leadership standpoint.
