but the posts must have been deleted. The Husker players refusing to shake hands before the game was BS.

Every week I see something more that makes me scratch my head about this program - and now we have players deciding to imitate the Miami thugs of the 80’s? At least when Miami acted like jackasses, they backed it up by kicking your ass all over the field. Our little boys qualify for a bowl game and now they are bad asses?

Chalk it up to just one more WTF moment for this sad program.

Agreed.

They need an earfull for that. Kinda makes a mockery of the "Day by Day" thing they recite before each game.

I don't care if they shake hands or not. Wondered if they did this because Iowa didn't allow the NE players to do their pregame prayer at midfield (apparently had state police at midfield logo) as they typically do? idk...just something I saw on X pregame.

Don't they usually do that at the endzone. I don't recall that at the 50

Who cares? So there is bad blood between the programs. If I were a Nebraska player I wouldn’t shake hands with a team where the kicker blows kisses to the opposing team’s fans after a walk off field goal (in Lincoln 3 years ago), a team that tells the other team ‘have a nice Christmas (you aren’t going bowling - last year). Yeah F*** the Iowa program!

I don’t like Wisconsin, but Iowa left their starters in when the game was almost over and out of hand to run up the score with a TD. Yeah F*** the Iowa program!

This doesn’t bother me that the Husker players know a dirty program when they see it!

As a fan, I noticed the bad blood by Nebraska fans, maybe 2-3 years into our move to the Big Ten. I never really noticed this from Iowa fans, but I have seen lots of guys obsessed with Iowa on our board, for years now.. so to me, this was really started by the Nebraska fans who were in a new conference and assumed they would beat Iowa, and when we started losing to them, they made this an issue, plus we didn't have any rivalries.. So Iowa was the closest state and hence this was entirely fan created on the Nebraska side IMO.

The crap about not shaking hands, goes completely against the culture at Nebraska and we deserved to lose because of that 1 thing alone. Each of those team captains should be relieved of those positions. I don't know what kind of culture Rhule is running down there, but that is completely unacceptable. Matt Rhule will get a ton of hate mail for that.

Sorry but ‘Nebraska Nice’ and all that stuff about ‘clapping’ for the other team when they would beat us in our stadium went by the wayside a long, long time ago.

For that to work today, other fanbases would have to return the same favor and class. The truth is other fanbases never did except maybe Oklahoma. Let’s be real…Iowa hates us and have always been envious of us because they have nothing. So we might as well embrace the hate.

Oh yeah, Mötley Crüe went by the wayside a long, long time ago also. As did your mullet and Nova. Let that go also lol

I’m in the minority but don’t really care. I’d have a problem with this if sportsmanship was on a level playing field but the sooner you realize that it’s not, you can get off this holier than thou tirade. It is just lip service all that shaking hands BS. I wish people would stop being so F***ing fake about things.

Watch the real rivalry games tomorrow. I guess

I don't like it. Shake hands before the game like sportsmen should. This looks like the Nebraska equivalent of Shilo Sanders telling our guys "We're going to roll you" and then getting smoked.

Remember last week when the board was pounding its chest about Uncle Donnie pulling the same bullshit after last week’s game?

Hilarious

It isn't a rivalry when the other team wins 9 out of the last 10.
I think that’s part of the problem Nebraska doesn’t believe Iowa is their rival and we still lead the overall series by 8 games I believe. Nebraska has been without a true rival since the big 8 merged with the swc making it the big 12. And had we stayed in the big 12 we’d be at 8 or 9 wins possibly a chance at the playoffs, from the beginning I hated the move Nebraska is like a fish out of water in the big 10

Where do you think that comes from? That comes straight from Matt Rhule. I still don't think he understands the culture of Nebraska. He's gotten really good at faking it at times, but then it's stuff like this that shines through and makes it clear he's the phony preacher rather than the genuine, nice dude he's painted as.

That kind of attitude, not shaking hands. Makes me feel like they miss the point. One respect your enemy, don't hate or fear them. Hate is closely related to fear. Hence why we used to respect and pull our opponents off the ground.

Do you think Rhule told them to not shake hands? Just curious.
Probably something he said led to the team thinking it was appropriate. I've had coaches before tell me not to shake hands and it was stupid then too.

I do not think Rhule would tell them to not shake hands. I guess better question is did he know ahead of time they were going to do this.

The team is a reflection of the coach

Throwing a Super Bowl party & crying tears of joy for going .500
I guess everyone forgot this happened in 2003 when we hosted K-State. Jammal Lord refused to shake hands with Ell Roberson before the game. Is that a reflection of Frank Solich? I think probably not!

I see folks saying that doing things like that isn’t the culture of Nebraska. But that’s the thing - that is indeed the culture and reputation of Nebraska now. Perhaps it wasn’t at one time - but it is now and has been for quite some time.

Sucks hearing that I’m sure - and many will discount it as a “troll” comment. But it’s the hard reality. True character comes out when a man is down/not winning. It’s easy to be “nice and classy” when you’re winning - but only doing so when “up” is fake.
