Saturday, April 16th: Nebraska vs BYU (Huskers Lose 4-3)

Husker Lineup:

1. Chick - CF
2. Anglim - RF
3. Anderson - 3B
4. Everitt - C
5. Wimmers - DH
6. Banjoff - LF
7. Cervantes - SS
8. Jackson - 2B
9. Steil - 1B
- Brockett - LHP

Top of order, B5:

1B, 1B, U5, HBP, 4-6-3. 0 runs

Opportunity to blow the game open, disappears just like that.

Elementary mistake by Everitt costs us 2 more unearned runs on the weekend.

BYU is hitting .146 on the weekend & they're 6 outs from winning 3 of 4. Sick

Why can't we do something as simple as throwing for a force out? BYU has scored one legit run today. The homer *should* have been a solo shot because the man on base didn't come close to getting by that pitch. Then Griffin's throw to first on the 3rd strike.

So frustrating...

And we leave the tying run in scoring position to end the game.

Great job by our starting pitching this weekend, combined for 24 innings and 4 earned runs. A good team wins this series and likely sweeps it

EDIT 1 earned run, not 4

2021 Nebraska Football = 2022 Nebraska Baseball.

In just about every game but mistakes at critical moments prevent wins.

This season has been a disaster but let's not resort to the RSS "all the men's sports at DONU suck" rhetoric. Will Bolt has already proven he's a winner and that he can recruit, something we can't say about the football program.

We have had a hell of a time offensively. We don’t have 1 .300 hitter. On top of that the lack of putting the ball in play with runners in scoring position w less than 2 outs has been really bad. It’s almost mental at this point in time. Add in the defensive melt downs at crucial times and pitching staff being depleted it adds up to the current state of the situation.

Agreed and that wasn’t the intent of my comment. 2021 Husker baseball accomplished more than Husker football has since, what? 2009? 2001? 1999?

The point is that being a fan this spring feels almost exactly like being a fan last fall.
