It was easily Rhule's worst hire on day 1. For future reference, if avid football fans have never heard of an OC candidate he shouldn't be a candidate at Nebraska.

He was a terrible OC at an SEC school for one freaking season, and I'll bet if you did a poll 75% of people who follow college football never heard of him. South Carolina couldn't get rid of him fast enough. I'll chalk you up as the one person that thought it was a good hire.

Okay, forget everyone else. I'd never heard of him. I'm an avid fan. I watch college football every Saturday. I read about it every day. I'm here every day basically. He was an anonymous guy in college football and a bad hire. Go find me a link at the time of the hire saying it was a big-time get.
Literally took the words out my mouth. Who cares, AD has plenty of money to cover it and I’m sure there are few big boosters who will help show Satt the door. In the end it’s costing us more money not to act now. Rip off the bandaid, promote an interim OC and focus on getting one more win. Bye week gives the staff and players a little extra time to adjust to the changes and come up with a legit game plan to attack USC. Either do it now, or wait til season’s end and go 5-7 again.
We could still go 5-7 if Rhule fires Satt now, but at least we might create some hope. Get a chance for a “reboot” and maybe get some new/better ideas on the table. Change now at least signals to your team (and everyone involved) that you’re not just waving the white flag on this season.
Pretty sure they're 2 year contracts. NO ONE should get an extension just to put them all on notice. Others should flat out be fired regardless of cost.

I fallowed him at SC and absolutely HATED the hire from day 1. We talked ourselves into that shit after the head scratching Mike Riley hire. “He was ok at Oregon State, think what he’ll do with our resources, support and players.” Bah🤣ha🤣ha! I’m never falling for that shit again. When we hire coaches who’ve had every opportunity to succeed and have never produced. I’m skeptical, pretty much hate that hire.
Don’t love giving important coaching positions to young coaches with little or zero experience as well. But I also understand that’s a necessary part of the game/coaching. Just can’t, IMO, have too many young up and comers at the elite P5 level. 1 or 2 young assistants with potential is probably healthy, but experienced production is essential.
Assistant coaches are two years, OC and DC are 3 years.
LOL I have a crystal clear memory of being in the garage working on one of my cars when my wife opens the door, leans in and says, "Nebraska hired Mike Riley!" I was like, dead silence for 3 seconds, and "The guy from ****ing Oregon State?" First reactions should tell you a lot.
Here's what you need to know about Satterfield: whenever his lottery ticket at Nebraska dries up and he's finally shown the door, he won't sniff another P4 OC job in his life. Just like every other HC/OC we've had in the last 15 years. We hire terrible.

I disagree with that. Nobody had heard of Cignetti last year. Very few people here knows who Brennan Marion is although a quick Google read and five minutes later they'll be discussing him as if they've followed his career from Day 1. My point is it means nothing, nada whether or not we've heard of an OC candidate. Find the best guy. I don't give a sh*t if some jackass on a message board has heard of him or not.
After Satterfield got a 2 year contract at South Carolina when the other coordinator got a 3-yr, we made sure to not only bump up his pay 50%, but give him a 3-yr deal.
The worst part is you can make a good case that special team’s coach cousin Ed and WR coach Skippy McGuire aka “Mr my daddy got me the job” are equally as bad.
Might just be me but our OL looks decent in single back and power formations. But god awful in shotgun.
I agree about it being Ruhles worst hire day 1. I said it then. I've tried my best to give him a chance but I just can't get past the BS that he calls an "offense".
That said I don't necessarily agree with the second part of your statement. There are plenty good guys out there that avid football fans don't know about imo.

I knew EXACTLY who he was. As someone who lives in SEC country (South Carolina) and actually watch a lot of SEC football and almost all South Carolina last couple years I seen this crash coming a mile away and said as much.
They had two good upsets last year near the end of the year where Rattler threw for a shit ton of yards and Husker fans took the bait hook, line and sinker. That was an outlier of some of the worst called football I'd seen.

You're right, two seasons. First year the offense was terrible and the second year their coach had to shut down rumors that he'd removed playcalling duties from Satterfield.
What’s hard to believe is that it turns out Mike Riley is a better coach than the 2 guys after him at Nebraska.
