I've officially survived 10,000 posts as of tonight and hoping to offer a few thoughts.
I moved to Lincoln out of hs in August 1971 and loved the town from day one. This Iowa farm boy had never seen so many social "opportunities" as what the HSS dorms offered.
Loved Husker FB before I ever got to Lincoln (thanks to my maternal grandpa) and, after attending my first game, was hooked for good. Had a lot of fun and a lot of heartbreak with this program through the past 45 years.
Early on, my glass was half-full with each of Frank, Billy C & Bo. Some good stuff, mostly not, in the end. Spoiled by Bob & Tom, I guess. Not just their wins, but how the program was respected.
Fast forward to today......like many, never heard of Mike Riley when he was first announced. I was pretty much "WTF"..... "Who is that"!! Today, there's no question that he was a solid choice. Still need to win and win THIS year, but that glass of mine is "half-full" more than ever!!
Regarding RSS, I've been fortunate to meet a few of you face-to-face. Drove to Eureka, MT (from Whitefish) a few years ago where Theo had offered to have us join him to watch the MSU game. Have hung out w/ Husker Hank at our home one night when he was in SB for hs wrestling tourney.
Stepchild made the trip to our neck of the woods to have lunch when coach Riley and Shawn E. visited the "real" western Nebby. And here and now, I would like to nominate Stepchild for the GOAT when it comes to gifs/ memes, etc.
And then there was a stop in Sioux Falls 2 or 3 weeks ago where we had an adult beverage (or 3) with SG08. The man, the chick magnet, the Legend. Looking forward to hanging out w/ him in Deadwood sometime.
Quality/ fun guys for sure. And Sparky, Bruzer and a few others (cough, cough rrt) are on my must-hang-with list some day. Plus, several great guys/ RSSers right here in Scottsbluff/Gering area, several that I've know for many years.
Gotta say one thing concerning my daily/ hourly visits to this board. I've been on this board for almost 12 years and have yet to understand trolling. Not sure what the pay-off is, but I just don't get it. Can someone clue me in ?!?!? Never mind........
I know this has been a "TL/DR" shameless effort on my part, but it'll be a long time til 20,000, so wth.......love me some RSS (most days) and always GBR!!
