Not trying to be a sunshine pumper, and maybe it’s just me, but I see enough improvement at most position groups just in these 2 games that we could realistically beat these 6 teams. And don’t look now but we have 10 games left, and SEVEN of them are in Lincoln. Keep in mind Rhule hasn’t coached a game at Memorial yet. Excluding Michigan, the other 6 opponents are not impossible to beat.N ILLINOIS

NU had a primarily veteran unit (not talented-but veteran unit) returning on offense. Exactly what offense has NU been running that is so complicated? Not trying to be a sunshine pumper, and maybe it’s just me, but I see enough improvement at most position groups just in these 2 games that we could realistically beat these 6 teams. All that said, Rhule and Satt better put together a reliable QB solution plan real quick. Because if they somehow keep trotting #7 out there, we won’t win more than 2-3 games, and Rhule might be pressured by Boosters/admin to make an OC change at season’s end.
Turnovers and lack of execution have been the reason for our impotence on offense. Of course, we all know this leodis. We've got to just get a win this weekend. At this point we look like dog shit on offense and they need to try and get it rolling the next few weeks against worse competition. Still at a loss at how we could not run the ball on Colorado as their D is terrible.
Agree, but at this point we need to change the QB, the left side of the line and play all of the young WR's. I don't give a **** if Alex Bullock is a good route runner. He's bad. Piper and Corcoran need to ride the pine with Sims as well. They both should be stripped of their single digits. Go make them earn it on the field.Turnovers and lack of execution have been the reason for our impotence on offense. Of course, we all know this leodis.
I agree with every single point except they will not strip those kids of the single digit this year. or so Rhule said.Agree, but at this point we need to change the QB, the left side of the line and play all of the young WR's. We get Iowa at home. Who knows what our team looks like by then. They might be gettable too. I think bowling is still very possible.Iowa is below average
I don’t disagree with playing the young o linemen but our lack of scoring directly related to Our turnovers. Our run game hasn’t been terrible even with Corc and Piper.I agree with every single point except they will not strip those kids of the single digit this year. or so Rhule said.
I say screw it, inject Gottula/Sledge/Jenkins on the left side and let it ride. After 4-5 years, surely we have seen all that Piper and Corcoran have to offer. After <2 games we've seen enough evidence on Sims to make a change.
You can't have a pedestrian WR try to get any spacing against most decent DB's. Then you're asking a scatter armed QB to have to throw a quality pass. You roll the QB out and all you do is compact the field to 1/3rd, then you really gotta put the ball on the mark.
I just don't see how you can tell the young WR's, etc that they aren't gonna be big contributors because they don't know the playbook. Hell, the playbook is nothing more than knowing your assignment(s).
If that's the case, how can they justify playing Piper and Corcoran, who should know the playbook, but regularly do not handle their assignment(s)? Makes no sense to me.
Huskers haven't been playing GA or FSU and still average only 12 ppg.
How many games you gonna win scoring a dozen ppg?
We truly are gluttens for punishment. Every year we think this is the year we can get back to a bowl game. 6 years now.We get Iowa at home. Who knows what our team looks like by then. They might be gettable too. I think bowling is still very possible.
And how's that going to change?Turnovers and lack of execution have been the reason for our impotence on offense. Of course, we all know this leodis.
No, the position simply needs to quit giving the ball to the other team. I'm not sure a quantum leap is needed.Like the optimism. We would be 2-0 with better QB play. There needs to be a quantum leap in the quality of the QB play to get to 6 wins.
Turnovers are fixable. I’m not sure they are as long as Sims is the QB.And how's that going to change?
I think bowling is possible for sure. If we can stop turning it over we have a defense that can keep every game closeWe get Iowa at home. Who knows what our team looks like by then. They might be gettable too. I think bowling is still very possible.
We have been turning over the ball for 2 decades. Im not sure it is fixable. It's beyond maddening though. I heard a state yesterday that we are something like -105 over the last 20 years. The next closest team is -55.Turnovers are fixable. I’m not sure they are as long as Sims is the QB.
Quantum leap is bigger than reducing 8 turnovers. The turnovers are horrible and crippling to the offense, no doubt. But Nebraska produced 5.4 yards per play, take away 4 turnovers that might allow drives to continue then don't shoot yourself in the foot in the red zone or deep on your end of the field and games can turn out differently.Like the optimism. We would be 2-0 with better QB play. There needs to be a quantum leap in the quality of the QB play to get to 6 wins.
Yeah and a lot of bad drops. Fidone and Bullock both had really bad drops when we were moving a little bit.Quantum leap is bigger than reducing 8 turnovers. I only watched the 2nd half, but Wisky's QB and receivers were much better than what we've shown ours to be.Every game but Michigan is a game NU will win.
Wisky just got raped (again) by WSU and they have no idea what they are doing. Their WR's are the worst in the nation
Iowa is HORRIBLE and if they didn't play the lamest schedule each year would be lucky to get to 4 wins.
NW is the most annoying team left because you have no idea what they will do because that entire staff is gone in 12 weeks.
