With Tommy as the starting QB, Riley/Langsdorf have to really determine whether they want to get the ball to the team's best playmakers (its WR's) - which of course requires a higher number of throws during the course of the game...OR, whether they want to establish a more "safe" offense that Tommy can likely excel more consistently in (limit throws to 15-20 at max, run a ton of zone read base stuff with some throws on the run) . . . which of course means far less balls going to the WR's unless they are incorporated into the running game.

Last year, it seemed the coaches went with the "talent" and tried to throw as much as possible given how good we were at WR ... but, perhaps they didn't view the running game as being as good as they think it can be this season with some polish (as shown through all the running done in game 1 last Saturday). Perhaps this year it will be more game to game, but I think its going to be a year where the WR's have to "suck it up" and play in the system of a team based far more on running than passing.

If Tommy were to show he could throw 25-30 times with only 1 INT a game, and maybe he has to against Oregon for us to win, then perhaps the coaches will more confident in opening things up. However, players only change so much and I would imagine Tommy would still be likely to throw 2-3 picks against good to great defenses if we decide to air it out all night.
