Perhaps we should stop hiring coaches with .500 career records. Should have hired Kleiman or Chadwell.
I would be ok with Kleiman. Chadwell is a big question mark because he hasn't proven that he can win at the power 5 level.
If MR doesn’t move on from him immediately - Trev needs to step in. Sat is that horrible.
And Rhule has proven to lose more @ P5 then win. He’s 24-26 in P5. So at least Chadwell would have been an unknown. We know what we get with Rhule, Losing

63-77 as a head coach at any level. 52-50 as a college coach. Why wouldn't we hire him?
This fanbase is the reason why we can’t pull out of spiral. Zero ability to give anyone the chance to build. Ou don’t go from shit to winner in one year.
Outside of some terrible hires on his staff Rhule needs some serious help with late game situations. Can’t believe I’m saying that for a guy that will be making 8 million soon but that’s where we are at.
We gave Scott Frost 4+ losing seasons to try to build. Any other Power 5 program would have canned him after Year 2 or 3.
You think Washington, Texas, Missouri, Arizona, etc. regret canning their loser coaches?

I didn’t know much about Rhule prior to this week where I’ve heard multiple pregame and in-game interviews. I have to say he seems to be very thoughtful and more than anything, a respectful/respectable individual. Honestly, very Kirk Ferentz-like, and the team played very similarly too.
Good coaches win period. This was one of the weakest schedules Nebraska has had in years. They were 5-3 and right there for bowl eligibility.
Rhule goes on to lose four straight to close out the season, losing in the exact same way he lost to Minnesota with a different QB, and in the same exact way Frost lost during is tenure.
A good coach goes at least 8-4 with this terrible schedule. I mean, NU played in the Big Ten West, the worst division in the P5. And he still went 5-7.

Kleiman had no Power 5 experience when K-State hired him, he didn't even have any FBS experience. And I bet that Washington, Florida State, and Missouri are not regretting hiring coaches who were unproven at the Power 5 level.
Yet when we hired Scott Frost who was unproven at the power 5 level, look at how that turned out.
He'll have to show more than that in his year two if fans are to be placated. If I were him I'd can Satt or at least hire a LEGIT QB coach and have Satt overlook TEs.
If not and no growth in year two (by growth, I mean bowling with at least 7-8 wins) then lookout!
That would mean he would have to have at least 10 wins in order to be considered successful.
7-8 wins would be a failure since it is not double the win total of this season.
He only had 2 years of head coaching experience total.
Chadwell, Kleiman, DeBoer have a long history of winning as head coaches, even if at lower levels, these guys are just winners.
Rhule took Baylor from 2 wins in his first year to 11 wins in his 3rd year. If he can get us to 11 wins by year 3, I will be happy.
For the college and pro coaching experience Rhule has he looks like a deer in headlights on sideline, poor clock management, delay of game calls. Other coaches are using him for real time game experience
Briles had Baylor winning 10-11 games most years too. Much easier to recruit talent in the middle of Texas. So far, Rhule hasn't shown he's going to be able to bring in the talent to compete in the New Big Ten.
Rhule is one of the best contract negotiators around. How he managed to con both the Panthers and the Huskers is amazing. But just as Callahan was too stubborn to fire Cosgrove Rhule has made it clear his OC is safe. Rhule is Callahan 2.0 and will surely suffer the same fate in a couple years. Oh well, we are destined to suck no matter who we hire😄
The fans throw interceptions? The fans miss tackles? The fans can’t get play calls in on time? The fans miss FGs, drop snaps, hit opponents out of bounds???
Have you looked at the schedules for 2024 and 2025? We will need huge improvement just to win 5 games again.
Yep. Freaking Mickey Joseph was better at clock/game management than Rhule. I didn't want Mickey to get the job, but we would have likely made a bowl under him this year at least. Rhule had the easiest schedule in program history this year and pissed his pants.
I seriously think you've got a pretty solid coach. From my Iowa point of view, this was your first defense in awhile that actually was something to deal with. Your guys play physical and hit on that side of the ball and that really hasn't been the case recently - lots of shit talking by guys after maybe one good play. Again, just a dumb Iowa fan seeing a physicality from you guys that has been missing for a long time.
Imagine the outrage at A&M if they hired a guy coming of a 5-7 season.

I have no idea what QB's are out there in the portal...Will the Wazzu or Oregon State QB's look to transfer? Are there some MAC or CUSA QB's that are too good for their leagues? We simply have to get exponentially better at that position.

Nope, players do. But the fans create a toxic environment around the program that prevents program building, progress, and positivity.
Yeah right, the defense was pretty good last year after Bill Busch took over in week 5. Your offense is a complete joke but Nebraska’s is worse. Solid coach? I know meth use is rampant in Iowa and it appears you been using it today

You're crazy. Matt rhule is going to turn your program around if you give him time. Don't sound like longhorn fans because our fans, myself included I'll admit, are way too impatient.
You're losing one score games and it doesn't take a lot of improvement to start winning those close games. I've been following Nebraska football since the late '90s and made many husker friends at tailgates in both Austin and Lincoln when our teams played. I want to see you turn that program around and I honestly believe rhule is the guy that can do it.
This isn't the same college football that we grew up with. You need to focus on building a great NIL program because I think that's going to be the secret going forward to building great teams.
