As defenses have morphed to stop RPO and the prolific pass games - offenses are countering with more run emphasis
Good discussion if you have the time

probably difficult to extrapolate to the college gameRpo is still hard to stop all the time. Couple that with power run game as Rhule does, we should have success
True scheme only really starts to matter when you are playing true top 25 teams. Before that it is player acquisition, development, and execution.probably difficult to extrapolate to the college game
the talent gap is much narrower in the NFL versus college
the talent gap between NW and Ohio State is magnitudes larger than the talent gap between the Raiders and the Chiefs
scheme/philosophy matters less and less when you can simple overwhelm most of your opponents with talent
if you like football, you should absolutely be watching the NFLTrue scheme only really starts to matter when you are playing true top 25 teams. Before that it is player acquisition, development, and execution.
Are the rules still different for how far downfield lineman can be on RPO? At one time I thought it was 3 yards for college, and 1 for NFL. I hate what it did to football, and wish lineman couldn’t go downfield at all unless it’s a run.Rpo is still hard to stop all the time. yes, they're still differentAre the rules still different for how far downfield lineman can be on RPO? At one time I thought it was 3 yards for college, and 1 for NFL. I hate what it did to football, and wish lineman couldn’t go downfield at all unless it’s a run.
With the rule changes favoring offenses more and more defensive philosophies revolve aroundDoes defense still win championships?
Edit: Oh silly me, its the current year.
Yea, I believe it’s shorter for the pro’s compared to college and officials are taking a closer look at this offense that I have noticed in college games..yes, they're still different
I think it's the same as what you said above - 3 for college, 1 for NFL
RPO is a run play as far as the oline is concerned - if the QB hesitates with the throw they put the oline in a bad spotYea, I believe it’s shorter for the pro’s compared to college and officials are taking a closer look at this offense that I have noticed in college games..
With the rule changes favoring offenses more and more defensive philosophies revolve around
1. trying to limit big plays for touchdowns
2. make the offense nickel and dime their way down the field hoping they will have a penalty or botched play that derails a drive
3. Become more aggressive in the red zone as the field shrinks and force FG attempts while you hope your offense scores touchdown
It needs to be the same as NFL. It makes playing defense basically impossible. Shootouts are boringyes, they're still different
I think it's the same as what you said above - 3 for college, 1 for NFL
Yeah. They still do. After the qb position, the next most important position in football is D line. Teams that win at the highest level generate a pass rush with only 4 players. Its absolutely critical.Does defense still win championships?
