Return of the run game (NFL)

Rpo is still hard to stop all the time. Couple that with power run game as Rhule does, we should have success
probably difficult to extrapolate to the college game
the talent gap is much narrower in the NFL versus college

the talent gap between NW and Ohio State is magnitudes larger than the talent gap between the Raiders and the Chiefs

scheme/philosophy matters less and less when you can simple overwhelm most of your opponents with talent

True scheme only really starts to matter when you are playing true top 25 teams. Before that it is player acquisition, development, and execution.

if you like football, you should absolutely be watching the NFL

here's a fun look at some good scheme + execution in the run game last week

Are the rules still different for how far downfield lineman can be on RPO? At one time I thought it was 3 yards for college, and 1 for NFL. I hate what it did to football, and wish lineman couldn’t go downfield at all unless it’s a run.

yes, they're still different

I think it's the same as what you said above - 3 for college, 1 for NFL

Does defense still win championships?

Edit: Oh silly me, its the current year.
With the rule changes favoring offenses more and more defensive philosophies revolve around
1. Prioritize limiting big plays for touchdowns

2. make the offense nickel and dime their way down the field hoping they will have a penalty or botched play that derails a drive

3. Become more aggressive in the red zone as the field shrinks and force FG attempts while you hope your offense scores touchdowns

It needs to be the same as NFL. It makes playing defense basically impossible. Shootouts are boring
