Rethinking your 8-4,7-5,6-6 predictions for the season???

Yes, I was 8-4/7-5 guy...settled on 7-5 and that will end up being way off (barring numerous catastrophic injuries). I think 9-3 is well within reach. Hopefully these guys can reel off 4 in a row and get some great momentum going into Madison...still need to get better every week. Feel free to throw shade my way.

Put money on the 8.5 overs for wins so lets go with a 10-2 record worst case.

I was 10-2 or 11-1 and I still am. So far the Huskers have won all the games they have been favored in...more than likely they will be favored in every game from here on out except OSU and maybe Wisconsin (which was an even line about two months ago)

How about we let the season play out before throwing mud at people. Rover, you may be a good person but all you're asking for is trouble after the first loss.

Let's enjoy the season, week by week, while uniting as a fan base.

I'm not throwing mud at all. There were people that predicted 8-4 to a 6-6 season based off last year. Most of them to a person said "let's wait until Oregon and then we'll have a better feel of the team". Well, how do you feel?

We lose to tOSU, go 1/2 with Wisconsin and Iowa, and possibly lose one we shouldn't. Two or three losses.

That's where I am at too. I was being cautious and conservative saying that we'd go 8-4; I now am shifting that up to 9-3. The really beautiful thing is, looking at the schedule, 10-2 is actually not THAT unreasonable...

Again...Nebraska will be favored in (at minimum) 7 out of the next 9 games. More than two losses this year is a season with them being upset. Riley got all of his crappy upsets out of the way last year.

I'm a 7-5 guy, and I'm not rethinking it. Given the same information I had at the time, I'd make the same call again. We didn't win the super bowl last Saturday either. There is a lot of football left to be played. I do think it's a good thing for this team to keep getting better and keep winning. But it should be about them, not about what us fan's predictions were going into the season.

You wanna know what??? In the sense of attitude we did win the Super Bowl. John Parrella and HIS defensive line has come to play right outta the gate!!! Oregon was stylistically the worst possible matchup imaginable for a young defensive line. Remember all the talk that we would have to struggle till the line grew up???? HOLY CRAP!!!! And Ross is playing like a madman! I really was hard on him and he has proven me 100% WRONG!!!! GREAT JOB!!!! Things are only going to get better boys and girls.

It is all about Northwestern. We show up and put them away it shows team maturity and a leg up on the Big 10 season. Northwestern has shown the ability to bounce back in the past and we better be ready for these guys. Otherwise it cheapens up a great Oregon victory.

THATS RIGHT; Oregon scored a two point conversion, then finished 1/5 on basically a 2 yard play. Oregon is thought of as an offense that is hard to defend. Can you imagine the odds you could of gotten in betting they would only convert 1/5 against our young d-line. Pretty incredible.

I will revise my prediction upward. Oregon was one of the losses I had penciled in to go with my 4 loss prediction, so I'll move it up to 3 losses. They'll have tough tests with Wisconsin and Iowa, and I would be shocked if they beat OSU.

I wanna see these guys handle their business live and in person while I cheer them on in Evanston on Saturday. That's all set up to be a letdown game. To be the kind of team they want to be, they need to go out and shove around an overmatched Wildcat team.

I need a full season of watching them go out and manhandle teams they're supposed to manhandle in conference play before I start throwing around predictions for 1 or 2 loss seasons.

Hard for me to see where 5 losses are coming from after the Oregon game. Maybe Wisky, and of course the week after will be tough, but 3 more on top of those? (I don't think we lose both of those personally) Plus, If you look at our remaining strength of schedule, it's probably something like 50th or worse and that's before Wisky and Iowa play another game, both of which could be a train wreck before we meet. No way we lose 5 games. if for no other reason our schedule is pretty soft going forward.

Didn't NU let up like 350 yards rushing? I think it was the secondary that was the key factor in the game.

I originally picked 8-4/9-3. I could bump it up a bit to 9-3/10-2, but it's just too early. We should be favored until Wisky. However, we should temper our expectations and see how focused they remain for these "lessor" games. We're not world beaters yet. Could we beat the best at this point in time? Doubtful. But it is possible. I say we just take it one game at a time. We're going to lose a game we shouldn't most likely. Injuries could affect this season as well.

I'm not as concerned of the let down because I saw that as more of a Bo problem that infected the team.

I don't think I made a prediction (think, im not totally sure), but I like 3-0. Now, lets go win game 4.

The "I told you so" stuff is for children and trolls. That said, without children and trolls, there would likely be no message boards.

"I told you so" isn't what my OP was about. Check out my stuff yesterday directed @jlb321. Now that was "in your face" and I admit it. That Hawkeye boy can go lay an egg as far as I'm concerned.

It will be interesting to see how Wisconsin handles their slate of games between now and Oct. 29. This week they are at Michigan State. Then they go to Michigan. Then they have a bye week, followed by Ohio State at home. Then they go to Iowa before Nebraska goes to Madison on 10/29.

If they go 0-4, 1-3, or even 2-2 in the four game stretch before Nebraska heads up there, Nebraska may be favored in the game. But that may be more of a reflection of playing three top ten teams and a decent Iowa team. Camp Randall has been a bad, bad place for Nebraska. But the Badgers will likely be licking some wounds by that point in the season.

I have been drinking the Kool Aid and was going with 10-2 and 9-3 at the worst. Last year was like a bad dream. This is our second year with the new Coaches and their systems. Teams typically make big improvements their second year under new systems. Players seem to be buying in and team unity has really improved. S&C has this team looking much more physically ready and we have a relatively easy schedule this year. Plus we filled some of the holes in the roster.

Also looking at the schedule I really only saw 3-4 games that I thought we might not be favored in at the beginning of the season. Ohio St (given), Wisconsin (Away Game), Iowa (Away) and Oregon. Turns out we were favored over Oregon. I have thought we would win the B1G West. I have always thought Iowa just got lucky last year, was the perfect storm for them. No way it happens again and Ferentz's history of underachieving backs that up . And as for Wisconsin they still have tons of issues with their roster. I think their offense is really going to hold them back plus they lack depth at many positions. 3 different coaches in 4 years is hard on a program. Creates problems with learning techniques, recruiting, the roster and having the right players for your systems. I live close to Wisconsin and hear the chatter about the problems with their team. Their schedule is brutal and with depth problems injuries could really become an issue. It wouldn't surprise me if they lose 3-4 conference games this year.

That's a brutal stretch, they could easily be 1-3 or even 0-4 in those games.

Our record is one thing, but my unmoving goalpost is being competitive in the B1G title game. This year and every year forward.
I'll say what I said a few months ago in a politically correct way...

I bet Riley has the East division's full attention right now.

I said 8-4 and would not put money on anything over that. @OSU and @Wisconsin still look daunting. Iowa despite there troubles is still close to a toss-up in my opinion and until more is shown to the contrary I assume T.A. will cost a game that Nebraska should not lose.

Hoping for a closer to realistic 10-2 but fear 4 or 5 losses. Oregon was a loss in my original thoughts.

I think we have a really good chance of going 10-2 and even possibly 11-1. It'll be a three-team race between Nebraska Iowa and Minnesota. Any way you look at it, we have to win at Iowa to take the West. Wisconsin's schedule is just too brutal.

I predicted a 9-3 regular season. Oregon was one of the losses. I'm adjusting to 11-1 with a loss to Ohio State. We finish the season 12-2 with a loss in the B1G championship and beat Washington in the Rose Bowl. Let the Kool Aid flow lol.

If Oregon had simply lined up with its normal offense and run wide 5 times, I'll bet you that at least convert two of those five conversions - likely more.

Jeez man. I wasn't predicting that they would have or should have won. Simply pointing out that their coaching should receive some criticism.

I get you, but you can understand how comments like yours can be construed. Lots of if and buts. We gave them points too.

I said from the very beginning that we would beat Oregon.
I also said that my head said 10-2 this year.
My gut told me 8--4 because it's been punched too much.
9-3 was the average.
I was more worried about the Northwestern game than the Oregon game, but now I'm really not concerned about NW...they suck.
I'm still hoping my head is correct.
