Remember that a kid is not committed until he signs his LOI.Yep
Guys we haven't closed on and/or shouldn't have lost:
Chandler
Reese
Achrahm
Fant
Bubak
Can't lose these type of players and expect to be back as a contender

Not really worried about Reese committing to Florida. Looking at his tape, he's decent and can get to the ball, but I don't see him as a starter for McElwain's defense. Bray will get the right guys in there. GBR.
agree!! stars don't matter until we get a 4* - then the guys got it right....If they're 3* then they're idiots. I'm guessing we backed off after he committed to Florida and didn't really want him or the other 3 MLB before him. It's another diamond in the rough we're really waiting for.So that makes McElwain an idiot for recruiting someone that he "should know' (film after all) will never start for him. I hope you drop him an email quick to save him from a disaster of signing the kid. Since Bray didn't land him he must not be the "right guy" even though we pursued him hard?
Wow, sometimes I wonder why I read this stuff.
I may be wrong, but I didn't take his post to mean that he would never be a starter. I thought he was just talking about near future stuff. Some had mentioned early playing time as a reason for him to go to Florida. So that makes McElwain an idiot for recruiting someone that he "should know' (film after all) will never start for him. Very well said. People have been saying that parity has hurt us as much as any program in the country. We need stud recruiters which isn't going to be easy, especially keeping them with the lack of surrounding talent. Especially if they can go to a top 15 program and barely travel.the sad part is, this staff seems to be putting in a decent effort.
Unfortunately if they can't close on an average player in Lincoln, or an average
TE in Iowa.........we have a problem.
Time to open up the checkbook and hire some real closers on this staff.
Start with the special teams coach and replace him with a heavy hitting
recruiter........
With the distance, weather, and lack of wins now clearly working against us....the ship
is sinking unless we invest with big time closers........As Elvis would say, it's now or never
Money is not the issue.Time to open up the checkbook and hire some real closers on this staff.
Appreciate the insult... but I never said I am some amazing scout... I'm far from it. Just voicing my opinion from his tape. He's a decent athlete. Bray went after him not long ago (about 2 weeks ago), and even though he committed to Florida and we didn't get him, I was trying to mean what timnsun said. I don't see Reese as one of the starting 11 for McElwain's defense in a year or two. And it doesn't make McElwain isn't an idiot at all. I should have clarified-- It just seems like he'll be a 2-deep, rotation kind of LB.So that makes McElwain an idiot for recruiting someone that he "should know' (film after all) will never start for him. I hope you drop him an email quick to save him from a disaster of signing the kid. Since Bray didn't land him he must not be the "right guy" even though we pursued him hard?

See above^He probably won't reply as McElwain has probably offered maple syrup a job based on his film study skills...
Do you really think that MR would seriously consider doing this?the sad part is, this staff seems to be putting in a decent effort.

Guys...you missed out on a kid from the state of Michigan that Michigan wanted as a FB and MSU didn't want at all. Both schools might end up being wrong but the wots is that he really can't move latteraly and thus more of a role player.
You are going after Butler. The kid is slow for a db...but he is a fluid player (good hips) so the best case scenario for him is If he grows into a LB. When all is said and done he could be a better player than Reece but you are talking down the line as an upperclassman.
The guy who could be a miss is Fitz. At the same time he is not a high ceiling guy...he's more of a high floor guy. He's likely to be a good college player but not likely to be a difference maker.
So you program is not exactly going to be made by any of those kids
Agree on Fitz. His tape is okay, but not a star. Hopefully has a good career by his jr sr year and gets a shot in the league.Guys...you missed out on a kid from the state of Michigan that Michigan wanted as a FB and MSU didn't want at all.
