Anyone concerned we only have 15 commits so far? AND, how may JUCO's do we take to supplement talent at LB and D-line?

I'd really like to see a strong class this year. We could use an infusion of talent for "play now" and depth.

Jucos should have always been the plan here. I don't know why not.

Especially with a new coaching staff.

We're already got one of the best JUCO linebackers committed to this class. I would assume that we might be looking at JUCO CBs.

I'm thinking 3 JUCOs when it's all said and done. As for the class, I think it's going to shock everyone. The receivers, offensive linemen, safeties, and defensive linemen Nebraska is in on right now suggests this class is going to be very successful on signing day.

Success is a subjective word. It'd take a lot for NU to finish in the top 4 or 5 in the B1G. Of course this class has "sleeper" success years down the road and maybe some can see that now. But for this class to get respect on LOI day from anyone who isn't a husker fan, MR would need to pull a rabbit out of his hat and land nothing but 4-stars from this point forward. Not going to happen. This class will be the lowest rivals ranking class since rivals inception.

So you're on record saying that this class will be no higher ranked than 59th?

I dont know I would say juco's have alwaus been a plan. I see two reasons to tske a jc kid. One is your HS recruiting has been flawed or you have injuries redulting in a hole in your roster. Good recruitng could easily prevent that problem. The second is you just dont want to pass up a truly geeat talent. If you have really good HS recruiting and are building depth you are not as likely to look jc because of the limited time you have to work with them. Sure some schools have had good success with transfer players and there certainly is some talent in that pool but there is also risk.

Good point. Over looked 2004, the transition class. This class will likely be ranked higher than that, but i wouldn't say by much. Just because you got me on this, sadly doesn't mean this years class will get any hype from anyone outside of huskernation. BC had an excuse in 2004, he only had a hew weeks to put a class together. Same excuse used for Riley last year. So what exactly is the excuse this year?

Why? What prompts you to post this in October? Do you just want to be contrarian? Do you want to come back and tell the board "I told you so?" I just don't get the negativity all the time. If, come February, we have a less then stellar recruiting class, will that make you happy? Will you feel vindicated that all your negativity was correct? I just don't get it.

I'd love to be shocked by our defensive line recruits. That appears to be a problem now. I'm pretty comfortable with our recruits at other positions. There are lots of WRs looking at us now so that is promising. We have some good OL already, and I'd consider Farniok as much of a commit as some of our actual commits (even though he's still uncommitted). With Domann and Dismukes we already have a couple of safeties although they could end up at different positions.
To the topic, I wouldn't be surprised if we get some more JUCO recruits. We just need to find one with the right fit we can close the deal on. Sadly, I think we missed out on some offensive tackles that would have been nice, but JUCO recruits seem to come out of nowhere sometimes. Maybe they have a few more they're tracking.

We are sitting pretty well with some very highly ranked guys that won't announce until late in the process. We've already addressed some needs with some very solid guys and now are after difference makers. Save your doom and gloom until AFTER signing day. You'll look less foolish that way. BTW, DPE and Ameer were both 3 stars. Would you say they were/are difference makers?

Why not wait until 5 years from now and then state my concern about this class? Then I can really make an accurate judgment right? That's ridiculous

None of this makes me happy. I wish I was posting on how excited I was about this recruiting class. But when NU is ranked 10th in recruiting in the B1G in October, I tend to worry. I am sorry that I don't bury my head in the sand like you do and act as if "all is well" and then go crazy when its blatantly obvious that it isn't. I call out red flags the second they occur.

Are you concerned were not going to fill our class? The number of commits we have is the reason why we are 10th right now. As we continue to get more commits we will magically rise.

Amer was a 5.7 3-star that was ranked #5 best in space backs by rivals. He was also ranked in the Alabama top 10 HS prospects and in case you don't know, Bama has pretty dam good HS football and to be ranked in the top 10 says a lot. Ameer was actually right on the edge of being a 4-star and had a ton of big time offers.

DPE had some off the field question marks but still had Boston College, NC, and Penn State recruiting him.

Look, I am not saying anything that isn't true. Our class needs work. I'll be very excited if we land some big names in January and February. Just saying the way it stands now, this class looks worse than what we've seen since 2004, As Yossarian23 gladly pointed out.

It sad that you all think I am the doom and gloom. The doom and gloom is the reality of what is happening. Bury your heads, that fine. Bury them folks, maybe it will all end well.

So much wrong with this post...

I say just give it till signing day and you overreact with a five year wait... Whatever.

10th in the B1G is due to the numbers, as has been pointed out by huskerbaseball13 and countless others whenever someone panics in other threads about our ranking. I'm sure you've heard this tip before, but for some reason, it hasn't sunk in yet... Look at average stars. What position are we in with that?

You call out red flags the second they occur... I don't want to make this about Bo by any means, but were you posting this way last October? Or in 2014? Or in 2013? Maybe you were, I don't know, but my sense is that you are doing this now cuz you didn't like the coaching selection. Not saying you liked Bo, just guessing you weren't happy Eichorst hired Riley. Is this a fair statement?

I'd like to think I'm pretty objective. If we finished out how we started, I think we end up with around a 30th ranking. We're trying to get around 25 commits, so we still have more players to add. Things would have to break down in a unrealistic way for us to finish as bad Solich's classes.

Tim let me think about that. It's a bad bet for me because its a no win situation. I don't want this class to be ranked so low.

Drop it down to $10 or $20 then. It's not like you're going to pay me directly, donating to a charity of winners choice is better.
