I am really excited that:

1) Our coaches can make adjustments. I was impressed with the changes we saw in the second half;

2) While I can't be sure of this yet, #1 gives me hope that we have coaches who will actually help this team get better as the season progresses. I believe that we will no longer see our team regress towards the end of the season. Hope I am right.

I am really sad that:

1) This team is not a top 25 team right now at all. It pains me to say it but we are clearly much further away talent-wise than I had thought we were going into this game. There were more than a few occasions where I saw members of our O-line getting embarrassed, and we couldn't get tough yards when we needed them. Our first string D-line gets barely any push (and this is supposed to be a strength of our defense). We are still getting penalized, and we are still experiencing inexplicable droughts in offensive production throughout the game (déjà vu). We were NOT playing a top 25 team last night, but we made them look really good for extended periods.

2) We were injured at two key positions yesterday. I am praying that we get Gangwish and Foltz back soon. This will be a huge problem for us, and contribute to another loss if we don't.

All in all though, I am really hoping that this team improves like I think this coaching staff can and will help them improve. If that occurs, and we don't sustain any more key injuries, we could finish strong and higher than any year in Pelini's tenure. I guess we will see. GBR!
