I recently bought a house in a newly develeoped cul-de-sac on the edge of town (basically on lots 7 & 8 below for reference). I was recently approached by the owner of parcels 4, 5, and 6 to take over those lots absolutley free of cost. However, this is an odd cul-de-sac in that those lots are basically just a useless drainage ditch that he didn't know about prior to purchasing a long ways back. The current owner has no use for these lots since houses can't be built there and no longer wants to maintain and shred this area periodically.
So my question is do I accept his offer for free land or turn him down since it's essentially worthless land? I really don't want to have to start maintaining the area myself but I also fear that if I turn the offer down then he will just avoid the area and I'll have 5' weeds growing by my place. Thoughts?
