Ranking Big Ten Football for 2021?

Game of the Year opener:

1. Winner of Ohio State at Minnesota - the Buckeyes (30-2 over past 4 years), but will have a rookie QB heading to season opener on road against QB Tanner Morgan and the Gophers (15-19 under PJ Fleck).

Well, the Ireland game was scratched, but top showdown in Week 1 is actually in Madison, right?

2. Winner of Penn State (24-12) at Wisconsin (24-9), last Badger win in series was blowout in Madison ten years ago.

3. Winner of Indiana at Iowa is expected to be a Top 25 showdown in opener.

4. Michigan State at Northwestern, considering how the Wildcats open 2021? The Wildcats have lost this game 2 out last 3 seasons, but have been to Indianapolis 2 out of last 3 years, as well.

Top 5 heading into 2021 are Ohio State of course, then Wisconsin, Iowa/Indiana and Penn State. Some give love to Northwestern and Minnesota in Top 25/30 to kickoff 2021.

Week 0:
Illinois at Nebraska will kickoff B1G West in 2021.

Instant momentum and hype to the Victor.

Illinois hosts Wisconsin for Homecoming. Illini shocked the Badgers in 2019, 24-23 win, as QB Brandon Peters takes a step forward.

While Adrian Martinez enters the year again as Scott Frost's #1 for four straight seasons. What will the season bring?

Bret Bielema's first B1G game, since 2012 title game against Nebraska in Indianapolis.

Does Northwestern have the top two sophomores on each side of the football in the Big Ten?

LT Peter Skoronski, who Phil Steele had projected as NW #1 C for 2020, but when Rashawn Slater decided not to play during the pandemic and wait for the NFL Draft, Skoronski went from HS signee to #1 LT for the B1G West champs.

And in the secondary, for Northwestern:

The B1G will likely once again finish dead last in P5 in non-con winning percentage.

The worst bowl conference on the planet over the last 10 years, and likely much longer.

A terrible conference that encourages sexual predators and produces weirdo fans like you, OP.

Pac 12 held that lately. Looking at Iowa State vs. Oregon last year, it wasn't a Pac 12 victory.

2019 - Iowa hammered USC pretty soundly in Holiday Bowl.

Interesting stats from last 10 years not including that year was from a post in 2018.

SEC 63 - 35 (70% of SEC teams playing each yr) 7 natl champs
Big 10 37 - 48 (61% of Big10 teams playing each yr) 1 natl champ
ACC 40 - 51 (64% of ACC teams playing each yr) 2 natl champs
Big 12 40 - 34 (74% of Big12 teams playing each yr) no natl champs
Pac 12 39 - 37 (63% of Pac12 teams playing each yr) no natl champs

SEC wins at much higher percentage than any other and does so playing 70% of its teams every year. FWIW

This entire thread is one guy just randomly posting tweets from years past. I am not even sure what the point of it is.

The Big 8 finished under .500 over the years and was .200 against the Big Ten all-time.

fwiw

What time frame is "over the years" ? What were the match ups of Big 8 and Big 10 teams, all time?

Since the Big 8 doesn't exist anymore. It is all-time. Big 8 vs. Big 10 was 1 win vs. 4 wins per the information. 20%

One game that comes to mind is 1986 Michigan win over Nebraska in Fiesta Bowl. 27-23.
Bo's team was down at halftime, but Nebraska turnovers doomed Osborne's team in Tempe.

So .500 over the years or .200 Big 8 and Big 10 head to head, Still confused on "over the years" time frame.

We know OP is a weirdo. I wouldn't be surprised if he is a sexual predator like the others in this terrible conference.

If Iowa beats Indiana in the opener and then Iowa State Iowa moves in to the Top 10.

Ioway has rarely played 2 power 5 teams their first 2 games and win them, especially the first game of the year last time that was accomplished was 1996.

2020- 0-2
1999- 0-2
2000- Kansas St, Western Michigan, Iowa St and Nebraska first 4 games. 0-4.
1992- O-2
1989- 1-1 lost first game
1987- 1-1 lost first game

You have to go back to 1983, when the Hawkeyes opened against two bluebloods and their in-state rival.

In 1983 opened, the Hawkeyes opened 3-0 with wins at Iowa State, at Penn State and in B1G opener against Ohio State.

IOWA went 9-3 against all P5 programs, ending season in a 14-6 ugly, cold loss at Florida in Gator Bowl.

We all remember that Orange Bowl and Nebraska's 12-1 season under Dr. Tom. One tipped pass away from a national title on that historic 2 point conversion for the Huskers.

Howard Schnellenberger wins a MNC for Miami-FL and the Hurricanes win their first of five national titles.

Until the pandemic, neither Nebraska nor Iowa had done it, since 1999.

I remember that infamous game with the Nittany Lions in 1982.

You implied Iowa. Neither Iowa nor Nebraska have scheduled routinely two P5 teams in back to back games.

The Big Ten routinely opened the season in the 1970s and into early 1980s.

2007 Nebraska played Wake Forest and Southern Cal back to back..

2005 Nebraska played Wake Forest and Pitt back to back..

2000 Nebraska played Norte Dame and Ioway back to back..

Nebraska played back to back power 5 conferences in:
1998
1996
1995
1994 played back to back to back
1993
1992
1991
1990
1989
1988
1987
1986 Florida St, Illinois,Oregon and South Carolina
1985 Florida St Illinois and Oregon
1984 and 1983 Minnesota,UCLA and Syracuse
1981 Iowa, Florida St, Penn St and Auburn.

etc etc.

Speaking of time machine

Bobby Bowden Names The Toughest Coach He Ever Faced

In a recent interview with Brandon Marcello of 247Sports, Bowden, 91, named Holtz as the toughest coach he went against during his career. Famously, the two all-time great met in the “Game of the Century” in 1993 between Florida State and Notre Dame.
