Pelini had 0 tolerance for pot and I imagine if he found out that Randy tried the devil's lettuce when he was at UNL he would have been kicked off the team immediately.
You realize this actually used to happen, right? And hasn't been allowed in five decades or so.
But I agree with your sentiment that social media is the bane of society. I say that as someone who uses is several times a day.
Today I was attending training regarding mental health. They showed an interesting stat that I probably already knew anecdotally myself over many years of working my career. There is a myth that mental health sufferers are violent and dangerous. They showed a stat that that this same population was violent about 10% of the time we deal with them. Drunks are violent 20% of the time. Drug users(NOT WEED SMOKERS) were violent 30% of the time. They literally pointed out that distinction when showing that stat. Weed is a problem if you let it be, but it don't turn you into a dick when dealing with people. It is self medication often times. They ain't looking to hurt anyone when they use it.
I agree. I used to drink and I switched over to better substitutes. Drinking is a nightmare.
I've noticed that weed makes things fun again.
Ever get high and marvel at how cool dogs or animals in general are? Or with a click of a button we are connected on the interwebs? Crazy fun to experience. Also, try jumping on a trampoline while watching sports.
Or play Dirt Rally with a wheel and pedals.

Are there alcoholics who are addicted? Are cigarettes addicting? Is exercise to some people addicting?
Some people can be addicted to many things. What’s the point?
99 out of 100 pot smokers will tell you that it's not addictive and they can quit any time. It's simply untrue.
The distinction on addictiveness that needs to be made is between physiological dependence and psychological dependence. When someone is physiologically dependent on something (we're talking heroin/opiods/etc) they need the drug because their body is so accustomed to it that it needs it for one physiological reason or another. They could, depending on the drug, literally die without it.
Physiological dependence, on the other hand, means the person is dependent on the substance for their psychological "well being." They need the substance to be happy or even just to function, or believe they do. This can come along with physiological dependence or without it.
The reality is, marijuana is not physiologically addictive but can easily be psychologically addictive (in the same way alcohol, sex, etc. can be). People on the anti side to a disservice when they make it sound like it is as addictive has cocaine or heroin, and people on the pro side look stupid when they pretend it is harmless and can never be addictive in any way. That being said, I have no problem with it being legalized, I'm pretty libertarian on the whole issue and you can do what you want to your body. I DO want a reliable DUI test for it approved before its legalized, though, something similar to what we have for alcohol. Driving while high is the main externality to it, similar to alcohol.

For millions of dollars I could give up sex and meat. Play your contract, make your money, get your pension. Then go cheech and chong the rest of your damn life!! Be smart.
I like how you responded without answering my question. Porn is addictive for people. As I said before, there is a big difference between a physical and psychological addiction. People enjoy the feeling they get from weed, but they are not physically addicted to it like heroin. If people stop smoking, they don't go into withdraw.
What I feel like happens is that people use a publicized case of a guy who is clearly addicted to weed (whether it's the drug or his own mental challenges) to make their case

I'm not trying to play the victim card here, but obviously, for Randy Gregory, it isn't that simple. I know it's hard to put ourselves in his shoes for what seems like the easiest thing in the world for several of us, but obviously Randy has demons that he alone cannot overcome. We can all agree that he's made a terrible mistake and that he deserves what he got while also understanding that he is going through something different from most of us.

The fact of the matter with this isn't whether pot is or isn't addictive or should be legal or illegal. The fact is that right now it is illegal in the NFL and if you want to play in their league, you play by their rules. Even as stupid as some people think those rules are. It is a business and they make the rules, as negotiated with the players union.
Randy Gregory has thrown away millions of dollars because he can't stay away from things that are illegal to where he works. It is no different than if my employer came and said that we are going to start drug testing and if you test positive "x" amount of times, you won't be working for us anymore. I had a job where a fellow coworker failed a drug test and they terminated him immediately, no questions asked. It's a cruel world out there and RG has been given a ton of chances, at Nebraska and in the NFL. Please forgive me if I don't feel sorry for someone with a chance to make life changing money. He is throwing away a chance that 99.9% of us don't even have the opportunity to do. Every time news comes out that he tested positive, I just shake my head. It's a sad story.

Well, I suppose freedom means you are free to make poor decisions and flush your own (and your family's) future down the drain. Sadly, it drags the rest of the country down with it...lazy, unmotivated, non-contributing, non-productive anchors of society.
Damn. When he was right, he was great. He got reinstated and I hoped he would stick this last time. I posted I didn't think he'd be able to cut it and I was right--wish to hell I was wrong.
