Raise for Duval...How much?

They traditionally do football staff raises in January after the season is over. I'd expect some raises for the assistants this coming January. Held is another who definitely needs a major raise IMO.

I’m sure if we all flood Moos’s office with calls and emails he will cave and give Duval a raise.

The voice of reason speaks again.

Does it ever get tiring always calling people out for their positivity? You are the master at it...

Maybe give it a rest, huh?

Not my point - you pay Duval what you think he is worth - if you believe he is one of the top guys in his field you pay accordingly and expect the results to come.

Frost is being paid what the market bears - and if we are paying one of the highest salaries in the conference we should expect to be one of the top teams in the conference.

The poster who I replied to said prove it on the field first which is hardly being positive.

Oh funny, because the way I read it was that you were pointing out our second highest paid coach and third highest paid defensive coordinator failed miserably, so why should we pay extra for our strength and conditioning guy?

We overpaid Frost and Chin, why would we overpay Duval as well? This fits your MO so much better… Always the contrarian voice.

Frost is the second highest paid coach in the BIG

Chins is the third highest paid DC

The “prove it on the field” metric must not be being applied universally.
This is ridiculous in my opinion. He has only been a DC for going on 4 years and so far his D has been nothing fantastic. One could argue the a similar thing for Frost, but I understand why we unloaded the truck of money. He was our guy and we weren't going to let another team come in and out pay us.
As far as Duval he should be making towards top of what assistants make. What he does is just as important if not more important than what OC or DC does.

I'm not exactly sure how the salary went down but typically a head coach will negotiate his salary and a pool for assistants. If Frost wanted to pay say Venables $4 million and everyone else like $50k he could assuming he's find coaches that would take that.

I assume Chins makes what he does because Frost wants to pay him that much.

And yes, the whole pay them what we see in the field thing is antiquated. You pay the DC at NU what you think that title is worth to fend off random suitors and adjust fire as necessary.. including firing if necessary

Right and my opinion ONLY...but judging Scott Frost or Chin after one single year is more then unfair. I seen a team that Mike Riley absolutely RUINED and we all watched Scott Frost flip the Huskers mid season with a bunch of freshman and sophomores in the two deep and turn them into contenders. Call me what you want, but he’s getting a passing grade so far from me. He’s MORE then progressed the team overall. GBR

Not sure how we would want Frost if he didnt know who he wanted, or, he kept guys around because of loyalty.
Not sure why fans lower their acceptance and respect for Frost this way.

We've dumped coaches in the past for doing this, fans have their opinions, thats fine, but disrespect and underachieving shines through these types of posts, simple as that.

Seems apparent that coach Duval needs a raise. He seems to be paid on the low side. What should his raise be? Since we need to keep him, and Nebraska wants to upgrade everything, I feel Duval needs a raise. I feel he has earned it and then some.
we won 4 games...he certainly has a unique hypothesis as to physical preparation for a year of football when coaching for Scott Frost but there are a lot of variables at play here. Giving him a raise would be based purely on player opinion, which is historically biased in favor of current coaches, and the opinion of his coaching colleagues who are equally biased. The last game we played was a clinic in how one team can dominate another physically, so much so, that our head coach pointed it out in the post game. So the objective data says he definitely does not deserve a raise but he certainly will have the time and resources to prove that he does.
