Raiola Shouldn’t Survive the Bye Week

How was Raiola’s experience & qualifications worse than Bo Pelini’s when he was hired as our DC? Just curious.
he had 3 full time staff positions in the NFL totaling 8 years prior to coming to NU

raiola was a glorified intern for 3 years responsible for nothing but making copies and getting coffee

he never even ran his own position group

it's not even close

From a linebacker coach to DC is a pretty big jump. Raiola has been on the job for about 20 months and only has one full class of freshmen recruits. I think he’ll get it done.
coaching DBs and linebackers in the NFL for 8 years with 3 very successful franchises is a great proving ground for a college DC.

raiola never even ran his own position group above D3 (1 year) prior to coming to NU.

he's probably the least qualified OL coach in all of P5 if not all of college football, and that is not hyperbole.

not an intern but asst OL under one of the most respected NFL OL coaches. His jump was from an asst OL coach where he is coaching to a college OL coach, not a coordinator. His experience isn’t much different than Pelini but didn’t make as big of a jump. DR has much more NFL playing experience than Bo.

Bill Callahan is the most respected OL coach in the NFL

Pelini was responsible for his own position group for 7 years in the NFL

raiola was a go-fer

playing experience rarely translates to coaching & raiola only spent 2 years on an NFL active roster

the two resumes are not even close

I didn’t say “the most respected”. I said “one of the most respected“. Whether or not he was retained only to try to secure his nephew can be debated. His knowledge of techniques and playing experience isn’t up for debate.

his ability to coach isn't up for debate, either.

practice squads, high school and D3 experience are a far cry from what Pelini was responsible for in his 8 years prior to coming to NU.

wow. you must have really made your family proud
Again, nothing of substance. You never answered my question. Are you unable to? Are you unable to use Google yourself or just lazy & like to bitch about things you really don’t know anything about?

that is correct. it isn't up for debate

dont project your mental weakness onto me, look it up or maybe read kong's concise factual reply.

I know what the facts are as I looked it up before I asked the question. You continue to refuse to provide an answer other than deflecting. Don’t bother answering with facts. I now know you’re not capable.

I also remember many people complaining about Barney as OL coach. What was Garrison‘s qualifications when he was brought on?
he was an intern/assistant at NU for 5 years before taking the full-time OL Coach position

he's the OL coach for Ole Miss right now and has never spent a season without at least that title since leaving NU.

guessing once the nepotism retainee is let go he won't be working anywhere in major college football as an OL coach, which would also be telling.

Correction, only an intern at NU for the 2008-2010 seasons & then was the assistant OL & TE coach for the 2011-2012 seasons. How does an intern at NU and then an “assistant OL” coach at NU compare with being an assistant OL coach in the NFL for 3 season? Garrison was ready to take the reigns as NU OL coach but Raiola wasn’t? I guess I don’t see very much difference at all.

That said, I was hoping that Frost would bring Garrison back instead of hiring Raiola but I don’t think DR is as bad as many on here.

Garrison had on the job training under the same head coach/system and had already coached/recruited his unit prior to taking the full-time role

tons of familiarity and the guy he was an asst under was still here when he got the full-time gig. he was set up to succeed.

raiola came from an entirely different world where he was an asst under a guy who held the reins pretty tight, had never had to recruit and had never been responsible for teaching on his own.

all of that inexperience is glaring

I'll never understand message board warriors calling for coaches to be fired.

You likely stink at your job, if you have one.

Get a life, get a job, be an adult.

You can be critical as a fan, but don't be that dbag calling for people's jobs and livelihood every time your favorite team loses or doesn't perform as well as you think they should.

Garrison likes where he’s at and declined to be considered for NU’s job. He’s a good coach.

this is likely pulled straight from your rump

in 2017 he left UNLV to become FAU's OL coach

guarantee frost never even reached out

Your guarantee would be wrong.
he declined to come back to NU to join frost in the hottest coaching hire of the offseason to take the same job at FAU?

sounds "logical", especially since he only lasted a year there.

I'd like to see some proof of this claim, but don't expect to.

then again, he did go coach for Lane Kiffin and is back with him, so perhaps you're right. looks like the smart move in hindsight.

He had to go public with a denial that he had taken the job. I’m not sure what proof there would be that contact was made. Multiple boosters of major substance told me he was contacted.

I was talking about before Raiola was hired.

in '22 Garrison left NC State to reunite with Kiffin at Ole Miss

so, he wasn't happy where he was at. He had a better offer.

Would you have left NCState for the Frost dumpster fire? He knew things about Frost at that time that most of the rest of us did not.

the false starts, the personal fouls

it’s one thing for your position group to be a laughing stock, it’s another to do so while also being so undisciplined you can’t string together 6 plays without committing a penalty

we all know why he was retained. that ship has sailed. time to hire someone who knows what the F he’s doing up front
Bench the ones that repeatedly false start! They tried to give the Illinois game away!

like I said, he had a better offer at Ole Miss and took that.

prior to the '22 season we all knew everything we needed to about Frost.

Scott Frost should have been let go after the 2020 season:

3rd losing season in a row

No player development

After whining and moaning about not getting a chance to play, decides to opt out of the bowl game at the end of the 2020 aeason

At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what message board posters think of Raiola. Rhule will decide if he’s capable or not.
at the end of the hour nobody really cares how many worthless masters degrees a message board poster brags about when they prove how misinformed they are with their knowledge. just shut your pie hole and people might be impressed
