Raiola on the move - again

I am so glad he chose not to attend NU. Way too much drama and hype. I have a gut feeling he will not last in GA. and will disappear into the night.
That's a fine take, but if he had committed here, I seriously doubt there would be anyone complaining at all about his "drama". But if that's honestly how you feel, than good on you. I'm happy he made a decision so that we could move on and get players that do want to be here.

Seems odd. I feel better about DK every day. Raiola just seems kind of off. Maybe fake. Maybe just flaky. Has he done any more interviews since committing?
I heard (I think it was) one of the national 247 experts say that at the Elite 11 Daniel Kaelin reminded him of Raiola. It's just that Kaelin isn't as far along in development and notoriety.

All in all, I'm very satisfied to have DK with us. With where we are at as a program, we may be better off with the up & coming talent than bringing in a superstar with a huge NIL deal. Seems odd to say that since Raiola is a five star but sometimes it works out that way.

Someone previously compared DR to Rattler... I watched the show he was referring to and was glad to see Rattler be a dismal flop at OU. His cockiness and dripping BS ego made him a very memorable person. I can not remember the 4 other QB's they followed that year. If the poster is correct about DR, NU dodges a bullet. Football is too much of a team sport to have a cancer behind center. If you look at my previous posts regarding this student-athlete you will see I am not having a change of opinion...

Hope he gets to Buford and decided Georgia blows. 😢
Why though? It's not like we or Rhule even want him anymore.

People: "Oh, Dylan is in the portal a year later after losing the starting QB competition. We should bring him home!"

Rhule: "Yeah... I'd rather have dudes that actually WANT to be at Nebraska, sorry."

At the tail end of his career with the Lions I saw him get in to an altercation.with his own O line coach behind their bench. Not sure what triggered it but teammates jumped between them before his shoves turned to punches. His coach dwarfed him.
Dom is a sociopath. Good trait for Olinemen

Is he better than what we got?

Is this his 5th high school? Not that I'm counting....but it seems weird.

Not sure that it's fair to call him flakey.

They moved from Texas and he was at chandler. Something went down at chandler. I'm not sure what, but they had multiple kids transfer out. He transfered to Pinnacle but the AIA has a 5 game penalty rule for transfers. Moving to Georgia and being eligible for his entire senior season makes sense, especially if your dad has the means to make it happen.

I have not heard one bad thing about Raiola from any of my phoenix coaching buddies.

Again, played at Burleson his freshman and soph years, then moved to Arizona for 1 year and played at Chandler for his junior year. Announced he was transferring to Pinnacle, never made it because of the chance of the 5 game suspension. Never played a down there. Will now play his senior year at Buford.

I will say this, when he was at Burleson he played against my kids school and got to experience what it's like playing against the absolute best and he got rolled...

If we had gotten him I would have obviously been ecstatic but there would have always been something in the back of my head knowing how he played against the toughest competition.

I wish the kid well and hope he demonstrates the Nebraska Legacy this family is known for and would welcome him here at anytime... That said, I'm very happy with DK and am excited for what he brings to the table!

Below is an excerpt from an old post of mine in 2021:

Just an FYI, Aledo is doing what I thought they would… he’s doing “ok” but Aledo is pressuring him hard and have had a 99yard pick 6 and he’s had some issues… half way through the 3rd qtr and Aledo leads 42-14

Edit*** he had 2 TDs and an 2 interception while running for his life… Aledo won 52-14

I bet the previous #2 at Pinnacle is feeling pretty damn good this morning
The #2 qb was gonna start the 1st five games of the season anyway.

But now he won't get benched halfway through the season.

So he would have sucked with our Oline. I still will always want a mobile qb

Full disclosure...I would take DR in a freaking heartbeat and wished he would have comitted to us. Period.

fair enough
but he still has stupid hair ;)

Raiola's transfers arent all that unreasonable in my mind... The 1st one, I didnt look at it as an actual transfer, as much as it was just the family moving states... The Arizona Interscholastic Association doesn't look at kids moving to the state as a transfer either... As Tuco pointed out the family moved to Dallas/FW area while the daughter was playing volleyball, and I believe they lived in AZ already before moving there... The initial pick to play at Chandler seemed reasonable as they have a really talened roster and are the current power house in the state... Im not an insider to the family by any means but the transfer to Pinnacle seemed like a developmental move... Coach Zupke has developed a few D1 Qbs like Brian Lewerke, Rattler, and if not for medical issues JD Johnson might still be playing at Michigan... My suspicion is the waiver didnt go through for immediate eligibility and since he will be spending the next however many years in Athens, the family moved, just as they did for the daughter... Just my .02....

I'm pretty sure this is correct.

Pinnacle has a reputation of producing qbs. I'm not sure that's why they transfered there though. Something was going on at chandler because they had multiple kids leave the program.

I dont know all the details, but I have seen where some folks weren't happy when the d coord left, I do know that nearly half or more of the transfers were underclassmen who all transferred up the street to AZ College Prep, which is were he landed... They all have immediate eligibility as they hadn't taken varsity snaps, and I feel if they were in a position to play significant roles at Chandler, they could have transferred to Hamilton, Higley, or some if the other bigger schools in the East Valley rather than a 3A/4A school...

Not sure why a kid would transfer to a 3a school, especially if he is legit. I could see 4a though as they are still in the mix to make the 8 team super playoff.

I believe AZ College Prep just moved up from 3A to 4A... Coach Vaught is now the D coord there... Dylans brother Dayton, an O lineman and Chandlers RB attempted to move to Pinnacle... If Dylan didnt get it, Im not sure the lineman and RB will get immediate eligibility either???

Probably 'roid rage.

All I'll say about this is that when I heard Daniel Kaelin won the accuracy challenge, I was very impressed.

The only characteristic more important than accuracy is decision making.

Hopefully he's good at that also!

Lol, #1 player in the nation, former husker legacy for a family that loves NU who is willing to move HS to better himself. I would be more bothered if a kid stayed at a lower school to be with his girl or closer to mom than getting ready for the next stage of life. "Losing" the #1 player in the nation and legacy of a family that loves the huskers because of decades of pure scamming and incompetence from a battalion of sycophants, weirdos, and creeps is a real measurable loss. No other way to look at it. I just hope we aren't stalling on a new offensive line coach to have a chance at the kid.

How did switching Phoenix high schools better himself after already being the #1 recruit in the nation? Same for moving to Georgia. If Georgia has always felt like family then why didn't they move there in the first place? Why commit to OSU?

What was the big deal with sitting 5 games? It isn't like he had deep ties to the school and was letting his teammates down. He probably never even learned their names. They had to know they weren't getting a waiver.

Georgia is such a close knit and reliable family that they kept leaking his commitment date before he could announce it so he had to keep moving it back. You really can't make this stuff up.

Every week that goes by it looks like NU got really lucky in landing DK. I feel like DR and family were going to hold the program hostage with the threat of leaving. Questionable decision making going on in that house all the way around and no reason to think it will get better as time goes on.
