Quit whining, this schedule gives us character

Not a single SEC team opens the conference season in the revamped schedule with the same conference opponent they were originally scheduled to play - the entire order was redone including their first conf game

The SEC normally doesn’t start the season with the first game being a conference game..

How many times have mom and dad dropped U on your head to figure out the original schedule..

You know who else plays both Ohio State and Penn State this season? And Michigan? And in fact does it every season? Michigan State does. And Indiana. And Maryland. And Rutgers. Nebraska has spent the previous six seasons playing in the easier of the Big Ten’s two divisions, the West, which has won a grand total of zero league championship games since the current alignment started in 2014.

But you aren't looking 3 and 4 teams down the line. What makes those 4 teams and 2 games any more important than the rest? They had to blow it up and start from scratch. If Nebraska didn't have a big ten game to start the season, which many people bitched about, you wouldn't even be arguing. You're just pissed because we have to start with tOSU.

Ohhh I’m not>>> B.S.. Give us tOSU, Wisky and Penn St after Purdue to start the season..

Clemson-GT
Louisville-NCST

Revised schedule - opening games of season

not a single acc team that was starting their season with a conference opponent precovid is starting their season with the same conf opponent in the revised schedule

as does - scheduling one fewer game per team, and everyone starting the season on the same weekend, and eliminating bye weeks

I sure hope the players are better able to cope with a few small changes - like say an audible - without completely losing their minds

carry on with your tantrum over the fact that Wisconsin happens to be playing Illinois in their first game rather than Indiana

And you keep hating on the Huskers because that is the only reason why you comment on HOL..

PS the ACC plays 11 games..

Stop blaming everyone and everything.
Schedule looks pretty tough on paper.

Go out and play, play hard, win. This schedule could be a defining moment for this team going forward. Nobody expects us to do well.

The best time to be great is when nobody is expecting you to.

Go Big Red! Whoop some B1G ass. Make them regret giving us this schedule

Look at the Badgers 2016 schedule. It was front heavy, as well.

Michigan State beat Iowa in 2015 for Big Ten title and was coming off the BCS birth.

every games a playoff. going into end of october undefeated. we're huge underdog, empty shoe, their first game. our s and c has to account for something dont it?

Again why are the 4 teams and those 2 games so important to you? You seem to be pretty good at dodging questions too

For the fact is was the first time any B1G teams had been scheduled by the conference to open the season and not on their own..

If it was important to the conference then what’s the problem playing the first game now?

Is that understandable... Even you can admit the first game was to stick it to us for all the pushing against the conference didn’t like..

Indiana is better than Illinois too..

Now they are all playing Big Ten teams to open the season, so that novelty wore off. So no it still does not makes any sense. It just sounds like bitching for the sake of bitching. Or like I wrote before, you think it is unfair that Nebraska has to play Ohio St in the first week.

Go get all 14 team's schedules, drop all the bye weeks, take away a game from every team, make sure all 14 have 4 home and 4 away games, then when you get that all done, let me know how much of a priority Nebraska vs Purdue really is. FFS

I can also throw out at you why not every team play their crossover rivalry on the first week besides Nebraska/ Ohio St. Still would have 4 home games 4 away games..

Wisconsin/ Michigan
Iowa / Penn St
etc
etc
etc

just play their game and they get two whacks at them.

Amen. I’m sick of excuses and whining about schedules, etc. Just win. Nobody was bitching when we were playing multiple top 10 teams in 1995. We just went out and took care of business. If we ever want to gain respect and try to rise back to the top we need schedules like this one. Don’t back down. Take your lumps. Get better, then give some lumps of your own. Scott Frost was brought here to raise the NU program back to the high bar that was set 20+ years ago. Not to lower the bar so that we can feel good about ourselves.
Exactly. Check out some of today's CF power boards like Alabama, Clemson, and OSU. Many welcome tougher schedules as a win looks more impressive for the rankings. They expect to win every game

I do not know of a conference that does not count all conference games in determining the divisional champion
perhaps there are some

all conferences with enough teams have unbalanced schedules - in the Big 12 some years a north team would play both Texas and Oklahoma and in other years they wouldn't play either - I believe Nebraska had one or the other each year but not both

divisional games are clearly weighted more heavily than nondivisonal games as you own any tiebreakerwith that team
the top 3 tie breaker scenarios are all based on divisional records

win your divisional games and you will win the division

The following procedure will determine the representative from each division in the event of a tie:

  1. If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.
  2. If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 8 will be followed until a determination is made. If only two teams remain tied after any step (or sub-step), the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative. If three or more teams remain tied after any step, move to next step in tiebreaker with remaining tied teams.
1. The records of the three (or more) tied teams will be compared based on winning percentage in games between the tied teams.
(a) Example: East 1 is 2-0 in games between the tied teams with wins over East 2 and 3 - East 1 would be the representative.
2. The records of the three (or more) tied teams will be compared based on winning percentage within their division.
3. The records of the three (or more) teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish (4, 5, 6, and 7).
(a) When arriving at a group of tied teams while comparing records, use each team’s record against the collective tied teams as a group, rather than record against the individual teams.

Agreed. Coming off several horrible seasons, I don’t think anyone expects a conference or national champion even if we had the easiest possible schedule. So this tough schedule should help us long term, as long as the players don’t quit.
