Questions about Champaign, IL

I didn't realize that Champaign, IL is only 5-6 hours from where I live.
I'm going to try to make the 2017 game.
For those who have been, how hard were tickets to get for that away game?
Also, were hotels available and reasonable, or did you stay somewhere else and drive in?
