Dean's Dumplings
***Hearing good things about Wandale Robinson, and all the other new arrivals for that matter. They are really pushing some of the upperclassmen in the weight room and in the film room.
***Speaking of the film room, freshman QB recruit Luke McCaffrey is arguably hitting the playbook harder than any incoming recruit since Tristan Gebbia. Though he will mostly take 2019 as a redshirt year to learn and grow physically as well as mentally, it will be interesting to see how he pushes the other QB's not named Adrian Martinez this spring.
***Nebraska has tendered offers to more than 80 WR recruits for the 2019 class. However, I can tell you that two at the very top of the list reside here in the metroplex in 4-star Zavier Betts and 3-star Xavier Watt. Betts will arguably be recruited harder on a national scale than any local recruit we have seen in recent memory, but a local Omaha radio co-host tells me that Watt is the more polished and mature player of the two. These two will go right down to the wire, but I see at least one of them signing on the dotted line with Nebraska.
***I have been told that I have been "mailing it in" on these bi-monthly chats. I can assure you that is not the case. We work as hard as anyone to give you the latest insights from border to border and I personally put 4,000 miles on my wrapped company Hyundai to bring a local feel to community centers and VFW's all over western Nebraska.
Nate's News and Nuggets
***As mentioned above in Dean's Dumplings (TM) there seems to be an uptick of talent in the metroplex. The great Husker teams of the 90's all had a local feel to them with athletes like Ahman Green, Clinton Childs, Corey Schlesinger and Casey Nelson. When the top players on the team are from the state of Nebraska we see the trickle down effect to local high schools and programs that raise the level of competition for all. I believe we are seeing the start of that now.
***Speaking of names from the past, former Cornhusker standout Chris Brooks, Sr. and his son (you guessed it) Chris Brooks, Jr. of St. Louis University High were discussed. We have reached the point in time when Husker greats from the past are siring athletic sons, and hopefully Scott Frost will reap the benefit. A long running and worn out joke on RRS is that Scott did his part 19 years ago to bring us Cam Jurgens (ha-ha-ha) but we are now seeing some real world examples. Toby Wright sent his son Javin to Lincoln in 2019. Drew Christo, son of 90's QB and season savior Monte Christo, is a 2021 recruit to keep an eye on as well.
***There has been some chatter lately about Nash Hutmacher and how the loss of Mike Dawson to the NFL Football Giants affects his recruiting. I can assure you that one of the first recruiting calls that Big Tony Tuioti will make is to the brawler from Chamberlain, South Dakota. Bringing someone with Nash's toughness and attitude to the program is essential to the 2020 class.

###Well you can scratch several more names off the Hypothetical 'Hot List' of recruits with a Nebraska offer.
Micah Bowens on 2/19/19
Davon Graham II on 2/5/19
Joshua Downs on 2/13/19
Jalin Hyatt on 2/2/19
Kevin Pyne on 2/11/19
Jaylen Garth 2/17/19
Avery Jernigan 2/7/19
You get the idea...
###In an effort to be more transparent, the following is a rundown of this month's bannings:
***Well, what can I say. Everything is bad. Really bad. Expect Bill Moos to act fast following an opening round play-in game loss in the B1G tourney.
***For all of you think that Dana Altman is coming home to DONU, you can put those thoughts to bed. He's happy at Nike U and doesn't want to end his career a loser.
***While we're at it, I expect to see at least 2 of the 3 committed players for the class of 2019 test the waters elsewhere.
Munson's Musings
***After following my son around to multiple camps and tournaments, I have seen much in my travels.

- The Nebraska brand is as strong as I have seen for any program coming off a 4-8 season.
- Having a diverse staff, 6 out of 10 assistants non-white, has great benefits to recruits and their family.
- Excited for 2021 QB Dematrius Davis out of Houston. He loves the Nebraska coaching staff and their focus on winning. He reminds me of a Kyler Murray type of player based on height and weight.

- I’ve been trying to tell @Harbinger273, @WestIAHawk and @cmhawks99 that Iowa City is the toughest place to recruit to in the country but they don’t seem to listen.
Nothing wrong with a 41st place finish.
PS - Dontae Manning and Xavier Watts won’t be Hawks (DM is #37 overall on TOS now and Watts has an offer from everyone in the country), but I’m sure we’ll impress the kids hearing from the directional rust belt schools. Go Hawks!
- Only one player is visiting from south of St. Louis I believe. This weather won’t be a surprise for anyone. But I don’t want to get in the way of a bad troll job.
- Manning is very high on Iowa. Watts I don’t see leaving Nebraska and if he does it most likely won’t be here but it’s never bad getting these guys on campus
- Turning 90 today.
- so, how is Hayden doing these days? I have not heard much of him being out in public recently.
- I don't think he makes it to FryFest anymore. A few years ago he commented about how tough it was to make the trip at his age.

- Because most Iowa State fans live in Iowa and reduce the tax burden of resident Iowa fans.
Otherwise, they're both no good delusional scum sucking narcissistic inbred broke dick rednecks who compare the way their mothers and sisters kiss. - Something go wrong at work today?
- I've always figured that Clown College lost more on the UN move to the Big Ten.
It was their every other year big game, along with Iowa. Now it's gone. Nebraska doesn't even notice the difference.
I know, TV contracts make stadium attendance and sales almost meaningless. But the Ronald McDonalds have to really miss the Huskers on their schedule. At least every other year, at home.
They must hate it that Nowledge U. is now on Iowa's schedule every year, every other year at home.
Oh well. They've still got the Kansas schools, and the Baylor game.
Mike Riley
- Just curious if you guys are happy to have Mike Riley Back? I know he did great things for your program in the past. Seems like he might be past his prime. At least you got him at a heavy discounted rate.
- My opinion is, I’m glad he’s back in a non-HC role. Had they hired him as the HC I wouldn’t have been very happy.
I think he’s as close to Beaver Royalty as anyone and a guy should get to retire close to home. Corvallis will always be home to coach Riley. But the truth is, I think he’s in the perfect position - a mentor role to Coach Smith. Mike knows more about football than probably anyone on this board. Beyond being very knowledgeable, he’s connected to several California recruits HS coaches and he’s pretty good at seeing hidden talent among players and making 2-3 stars play like 5 stars.
Plus the fact that Nebraska is essentially paying him for the next couple years... doesn’t hurt either.
