My 27 year old brother-in-law, Chad, has cerebral palsy and is completely disabled. On Sunday evening, while lying on his back, he vomited and aspirated the vomit. He was taken to the local hospital, where his situation deteriorated overnight. He developed pneumonia and also has a serious blood infection. Early the next morning, they rushed him to Omaha. His breathing was significantly improved by Monday evening, and things were looking promising, but things took a major turn for the worse yesterday as his lactic acid levels spiked through the roof and his breathing became labored. He's currently on a ventilator, and they've switched antibiotics a few times as the infection has not responded yet. He's very sick and needs all the prayers he can get.

I know the power of prayer, and I deeply appreciate all of the support from the RSS community. Chad needs all the help he can get.

UPDATE 6/1: He's started to respond to antibiotics but he's not out of the woods yet. They're going to keep him on the ventilator overnight and try taking him off tomorrow at 10 AM (assuming no more setbacks). Please keep the prayers coming.

UPDATE 6/3: He showed solid progress through Thursday morning and they tried to remove the breathing tube, but his tongue kept blocking his airway, especially when he sleeps. They've decided they are going to put in a trach on Monday and he'll be sedated until then. The good news is that he's going to make it. Thank you all for the prayers!
