Amazing card and overall, amazing fights.

I had Diaz coming out on top, pre fight, but I thought 2/3 of the judges got it right with a 48-47 decision.

Rumble Johnson is the scariest dude on the planet. But, he's recent untested past the first round.

Cody Garbrandt will probably right Cruz next, but I think he should fight TJ for the top contender spot. But CG is hot and it'd be a heck of a pay day for both guys and the UFC.

Connor came back to life last night and if I were him, I'd forgo the 145 belt and fight Diaz a 3rd time at 155 then go back and handle business at 145. He mad $3M last night. A 3rd fight with Diaz would surpass that payday and you int have so many fights like that I. Your body.

Anyone else with some thoughts?

Yea even though Diaz lost it confirms Mac still hasn't finished him in 2 fights like he predicted he would. I'm sorry I just don't see Mac as the man in the UFC like everyone else seems to. Guy is vastly overrated. Give me Rumble Johnson, that's what a fighter is.

It's funny that beating Nate Diaz (an above average, but not great fighter) makes you the king. Nate Diaz looked like he was headed towards the end of his career, before these fights.

True. Mac's biggest draw and asset seems to be his big mouth. Still not impressed by his fights.

Mac sells fights. Plain and simple.

Rumble is the man. I really like DC, but I think Runle gets him.

I really want to see how Mac does against Aldo. Jose looked amazing against Edgar.

Cormier is the default champ and I wish Jon Jones could stay clean long enough to pummel him again. Also agree with everybody else Macgregor is all mouth, but that mouth is cashing some monster checks right now.

Didn't Cormier submit Rumble last year?

McGregor was fighting up 2 weight classes and probably giving up 18-25 lbs at the time of the fight.

I love watching McGregor fight, but there are a ton of fighters that would destroy him if they fought. He and Cowboy Cerrone would be a really entertaining fight I think. The weight thing with Diaz was way overblown. They are both basically 155 fighters who walk around above 170, so it was just fighting over both of their real weight class. I am not sure McGregor will ever fight at 145 again. He looks like a corpse at weigh-in when he fights at that weight. He is far bigger the following day.

I don't believe you can look at those two dudes last night and say they weighed anywhere near the same weight. Diaz is clearly bigger.

Overblown or not, there are reasons why guys choose to cut 20 to 25 lbs from their walking around weight.

Also can I get a list 5 fighters that would absolutely destroy McGregor if they fought? I mean guys in the 125lb class to 155lb class range.

All mouth that fights in 3 weigh classes and knocked out the guy many called unbeatable in 13 seconds? Strange sense of reality. All Mouth that has had any number of guys mysteriously pull out of fights with him?

Like him or not..he fights anyone, anywhere. Great for the sport.

All Mouth will knock out Aldo again...IF Aldo shows.

All mouth who offered Aldo a rematch when another Brazilian chickened out and Aldo, after TRULY running his trap, declined????

125 to 155??? Oh...this will be good....MAYBE a couple in 155 would give him a good tussle. 145 and below? Jesus...be serious.

I remember the good old days when everyone on here said Rousey could beat up most men...yeah...I'll keep listening to those guys.

Continue.

DC did sub Rumble. DC took some shots, made it out of the first and Rumble faded.

Diaz walks around at 200 lbs. Mac walks around at 175 ish. That's a huge difference in weight.

There isn't a man under 145 that could hurt Mac. Also is your next bet and Mac KO'd him. But Aldo looked great recently.

The average guy walking the streets, you bet she could. Below avg pro (UFC, Bellator, WSOF, etc) fighter, doubtful.

I think any one of the top guys in 155 who have really good ground games would be Connor's kryptonite. Chad Mendez was eating him alive, but faded pretty quick. He may have tore Connor up with a full camp. I have no idea why Aldo charged in and decided throwing bombs at Connor was a smart decision. He could have been conservative and used his great kicks and superior grappling to make Connor very uncomfortable. I think Dos Anjos and Alvarez would drag him to the ground and fight him there. I ain't real familiar with Khabib, but he is just mowing through guys in that weight class. I think even a guy like Joe Lauzon would give Connor a real tough fight. Lauzon is a tough fighter and deadly with submissions. And Cowboy could easily drop back to 155 and would be more than happy to go to war. When it goes to the mat, he is far better. Connor did a real effective job of wearing Diaz down early last night. Diaz didn't want to waste energy trying to get it to the ground. When he did, Connor did a real good job of defending and getting back up quick. Seemed like a bad gameplan by Diaz last night. Like you said though, Connor is really effective in making guys look ineffective that SEEM like they should kick his butt.

forgive my ignorance .. can someone help me with regards to concussions and UFC/MMA and boxing in light of all the media attention it gets in football

essentially one of the major objectives in these sports is to give your opponent a severe enough concussion to make them lose or nearly lose consciousness

do the combatants sign a medical waiver - do the sports have some type of concussion protocol/program

just curious ... thanks

Most fights are stopped well before a knockout. The post fight assessments in MMA are far more strict with No Contact/No Practice, etc limits set depending on result of post fight exam. MMA is nothing like boxing with the repeated concussive blows. The 4 oz gloves don't really allow for a guy to sit and get pounded round after round.

Essentially, MMA and the gaming commissions are much more restrictive. If you are knocked unconcious in a fight, you are automatically placed on a 30-90 medical suspension.

Additionally, being knocked out is not equal to receiving a concussion. Just like receiving a concussion is not equal to being KO'd.
