I’ve seen some remarks leaking into RSS (by only a few) about how HCSF and staff have been underwhelming in their offers and mutual interest of highly ranked prospects for 2019. I think we need to be patient.
I am going to trust their talent evaluation and development of players and once prospects see the turnaround on the field the higher ranked guys will come.
Mike Hughes was a 4 star out of high school that went the JUCO route after a year at UNC. He was a direct recruit of this staff out of JUCO and he became the highest ranked UCF defensive player ever drafted by the NFL when he went No. 30 overall.
Tre’quan Smith was a 5.5 3 recruited by the previous UCF staff. HCSF, etal. developed him into a 3rd NFL draft pick.
Jordan Akins was a 5.6 3 star WR who tried baseball then came back to play football in 2014. HCSF moved him to TE and 2 years later he is a 3rd round NFL draft pick.
We all know Shakeem Griffin’s story and you’ll see him go off the board today.
Be patient. Let this staff evaluate and develop. The above players are just a small sample size (M. Milton not highly recruited out of HS either).
