My mom said this was the best NJ pizza. I think she's insane

NJ pizza tends to be very sweet and more overpowering than Val's. Not a fan of this.

NY pizza is very strict. You came for pizza. You know what you came for.

Also, I'm not about to spend 50$ to sit in a restaurant for $100

But I do agree with you about geologic core samples. I spent a year at the KGS analyzing core samples and the quality of my work was largely correlated to the quality of the core data. Aka old core sample profiles were not very good and hard to interpret sometimes so maybe I kinda sorta guessed at a few of them, 🤪. Newest profiles had very good data and were hard to get wrong though.

I have heard of NY style pizza , Chicago style. Etc.. o honestly have never heard of someone saying have you had NJ pizza. 🤷

It’s a variation of the NYC style pizza.

IMO there’s these styles that are popular:
Tavern (Chicago)
Deep dish (chi)
Detroit style
NYC
New Haven
Neopolitan

Everything else is just localized styles
Personally I think I like Detroit style the best

Have been to NYC and have had both NY and NJ pizza. Anything wood fired or brick oven is basically the same no matter what part of the country.

NYC street pizza or retail front pizza sucks. Doesn’t matter if only $1/slice. Pizza is baked, then sits there until someone orders a slice. They heat it back up in an oven. Reheated pizza is not good and not worth it.

I’ve never had New Haven. But I’m out in CT a few times a year. Will need to make a stop somewhere. Any recommendations?

I sent a sales guy to NJ and he had Ralph’s in Nutley, NJ and said it was amazing.

I like deep dish and Detroit style more so than the thin stuff.

Sally’s, Pepe or modern in New Haven. Try to get there before 5 or you’ll have a long wait. Parking is also tough
