Paul Johnson, wait until you HAVE to go for two

Whew...for a moment there I thought the title of the thread was, "Tom Osborne wait until you HAVE to go for two."

You are way under 50-50 to make a 2 point conversion, and unless you are a big underdog, there is no reason to. The odds aren't with you. And if you are going to run option, run it to the wide side.

Was anyone else worried Saturday night that if Arky St would have scored at the end that they may have gone for 2?

Amazingly, yes!
On the other hand my impression was that their QB was gassed and may not be able to make another series. They had not been remotely close to being able to stop Tennessee in overtime so why not roll the dice. It's not like their odds improve once you have to go for the mandatory deuce. I didn't mind the call. Sucked for GT but I bet his players were on board.

They had been getting pretty much whatever they wanted towards the end of that game, if I was a fan of them I would've been happy with the call.

Wasn't stupid at all. GT's defense is garbage. They were wearing down and having mental lapses the entire 4th quarter. The next overtime was mandatory two-point conversion. If you kick both teams were going to score again in the 3rd OT and you're in the exact same spot. Go for it there and try to steal the game. I would have went sweep on the play call, but going for 2 there, I got no problem with it.
