How many current starters now leave because the Chiefs can’t afford to sign them.
Wait till contract negotiations start the Chiefs won’t be able to pay what they must to keep the stars. IMO KC put way too many eggs in one basket.Well, at the moment the chiefs are returning 20 of 22 starters. So... not many?

Yeah, you know you're right. Chiefs fans should be disappointed. They only waited 50 years for a championship. There's no way they should have given this deal to the 24 year old who is the best QB in the NFL and who is just entering his prime. Huge mistake.Wait till contract negotiations start the Chiefs won’t be able to pay what they must to keep the stars. IMO KC put way too many eggs in one basket.
The cap is going to go way up in a couple of years so this is probably a steal with how they structured itYeah, you know you're right. Chiefs fans should be disappointed. If they didn't pay him somebody else would have, and then they're REALLY not gonna win anything again. Just ask a Bears fan how uncertain it is that you ever find another franchise-calibur QB again and where crappy QB play gets you even with excellent RB, WR, and defensive talent.Yeah, you know you're right. So is this a carefully researched opinion or are you just spouting the usual talking points whenever someone signs a big contract? Because everything I've read says the Chiefs are in good shape with cap space going forward.Who said anything about bring disappointed. If you know anything about professional sports at all you would readily admit that when 1 player gets 70% of the salary cap pie there isn’t enough left for the other big name players sitting at the table. People leave all the time when a franchise doesn’t have enough cap space to make a reasonable offer.
Mitch Houltus of Chiefs radio said last night on Sports Nightly it looks like it will be hard to resign Chris Jones. That was a very big piece to the success of last years defense IMO.So is this a carefully researched opinion or are you just spouting the usual talking points whenever someone signs a big contract? Mitch Holthus is great and obviously knows what he's talking about. Did he say specifically that salary cap issues after the Mahomes signing is the reason why it would be hard to resign Chris Jones? They have the space to sign him, and everything I've heard is that the reason he'll be hard to sign is because he wants more than what they want to pay. They've already tagged him and that number is already counted against the cap. He just hasn't signed.Mitch Houltus of Chiefs radio said last night on Sports Nightly it looks like it will be hard to resign Chris Jones. Nobody disagrees with them needing to get Mahomes re signed just didn’t think they needed a record breaking contract to do it.
I interpreted it as a combination of high demand and funds tighter now.Mitch Holthus is great and obviously knows what he's talking about.
