Hopefully the link works. Interesting that HS kids can bypass college and make 50k a year immediately. Thats a pay cut for SEC recruits though. Wonder if this will fly.
This basically laughs at the educational system. Wow, I would not like this at all! Just would add to the uneducated list of people in the US. What are these kids suppose to do if they don't make it? I am assuming the ones that would be open to this are not at the tops of the class for GPA.

Edit: Although this would definitely benefit Nebraska, because most of the kids that would be open to this are not the type of kids NU recruits. SEC would be f'd!

From the article:
"There is also full worker’s comp and, among other things, a tuition reimbursement at a community college should a player choose to use it in the offseason."

A college education is overrated... just ask Aretha Franklin, Richard Branson, Joe Lewis, Quentin Tarantino, Mike Hudack, David Karp, David Murdock, Philip Emeagwali, Francois Pinault, James Clark, George Foreman, and my grandpa (he never made it to jr high).

They never finished high school and have net worths in the millions and billions.

The most driven people will succeed in life.

A diploma and degree will help the other 99.9999% of the people succeed though in the 'normal world' :)

I could go to college for 20 years and I would still be an "educated idiot" to my grandpa!

This will water down D1 ball. The top prospects will go this league and leave the remaining recruits to D1. Once they play for this league their status will change forever, being a pro.

Mixed emotions on this NBA would probably follow suit if this is successful.

I disagree. College football provides much more exposure than this league ever will. Millions of people aren't going to watch California minor league football. I doubt these games would even be broadcasted on National TV. College football also provides access to elite training facilities.

But this league could be a good alternative for talented kids that can't academically get into a 4-year college. It will hurt JUCO Football more than anything.

You left out in Bold a key part of the statement " community college". FIFY . Cause we all know an education from a 2 year school = that of a 4 year school. Just kidding.

Example: I can just imagine a 5-star recruit who has an opportunity to go to USC or Stanford bypassing college to join this league. He enrolls in Long Beach City college under this great "tuition reimbursement program @ a community college" in the off season, gets hurt or doesn't make it to the NFL and is now stuck with a 2 year degree from a crap school and no one gives zero Fs about him.

Or

Joins this league, and the league goes bankrupt. He's already signed a contract so no longer an amateur. Cant go to college, hasn't had time to really to develop. His football days over. No degree. No real opportunity for a future in football.

Another thing to think about, how many EX-huskers had doors open for them later in life because of us fans? I am talking about the guys that didn't end up going pro? Probably a good amount. And that can be stated for players at many schools. Take away the stardom they received in college and those opportunities wont be there for them.

Would there be success stories because of this new league? I am sure there would be a few. But not as many as there would be bad stories. This league does not help the greater good. Just a few.

I don't support this at all, but just to play devil's advocate, what if this thing goes through? If it actually does water down college football, you have to think Nebraska has a better shot at becoming a title contender again with all the top athletes bypassing college.

Players can only be less than 4 yrs out of high school. There's such small percentage of college players that go pro, not even considering the percentage of total high school players. They would have non-qualifiers, but that doesn't mean they have pro potential.

So this league would have to identify and convince future pro players out of high school to join this league. Or, they're gonna go after underclassmen currently enrolled at universities and target them to join their league. Sounds pretty iffy to me.

If the top athletes bypass college, then the top schools will go even harder at the next tier of kids. The cream will still rise to the top, nothing will change on the CFB landscape and nobody will gain any advantage.
