Looking for some insight from anyone on this board with experience in this. I have an outdoor gas line that was installed in my house with 1/2" piping. I just bought a Weber Natural Gas Grill to use and it came with gas lines for it, but they have a 3/8" adapter on the end of their 1/2" line.
So, a couple of questions for people with experience on this matter or even experts in this field. I am assuming it is fine to just get a coupler to change it from 1/2" to 3/8" from my house line. Does it matter whether the piping is galvanized vs black steel? I live in Illinois and haven't been able to find anything on it online with my gas company, Ameren. I know I have seen mentioning of zinc flakes coming off the galvanized and possibly clogging ports, but I read where more gas companies are now recommending or using galvanized due to durability. Just want to make sure I don't cause more problems with it and use something that doesn't need to be changed out regularly.
