Our LT was nearly a 5 star?

He should be playing guard and not left tackle..
the fact that he’s still playing left tackle tells us that two head coaches have thought he was the best fit we had to do that when Teddy went down. I’m not sure if his problems at LT are physical or mental. It doesn’t help him that normally he’s lining up against the best pass rusher for every opponent. I won’t be surprised to see him get drafted and play well at guard in the NFL.

Rivals made Bookie a 5 star. It is entirely irrelevant what Corcoran was or would have been rated. It means nothing.

It's like in the NCAA football games recruiting - you might get a high rated player that appears to be a solid 75 overall rating - turns out after scouting 100% you come to find they're actually just a 66 overall. A bust.

That's how I imagine guys like Corc and Benhart. Of course bad development under Frost didn't help any either. They're busts AND playing catch up in development. We must roll with the punches though. Hopefully Teddy comes online finally at some point, and Corc can at least be the guard that he's supposed to be.

Benhart has been better. He’s pretty good in the run game. We’ve opened some huge holes on the right side.

He was a guard in HS
I didn't know that. Yet for 3 years we keep playing him out of position because we can't find a better guy? I'm all for seeing what Gottula can do. At least get him some action so he's got some experience for next year. Can't do any worse.

He's definitely improved. His pass pro is still a little iffy, but at least he looks like he gives a ****, unlike Corcoran. I hate shitting on kids, but Corcoran looks literally like he is doing it on purpose at this point.
When I don't notice you - I consider you are doing your job. He isn't great but he has vastly improved. Turner gets beat like a drum too many times.

We’ve been recruiting tackles very hard since Frost was canned. Left tackles are needed and wanted by everybody. I’m not sure Tom ever had a LT play in the NFL. Part of that was scheme related but some of it was hard they are to get. Steinkuhler maybe.

Just think how different things would be for this offense if Rouse had stuck with his Nebraska commitment.
We were unwilling to match OU’s NIL money for Rouse. Had a high performing player at a position of extreme need and we decided to pass

The money is there - the willingness to spend it on talent acquisition unfortunately isn’t.

I don’t believe that’s accurate. IF you were Rouse which program would you have chosen given each program’s prospects for your final year? Answer is easy.

That’s all well and good except he visited both OU and NU and was given the hard sell by both programs prior to committing to NU. After he committed to NU, OU upped the offer and we were given the option to match and declined.

Is there evidence of that or is that just an excuse for a guy choosig another program with more recent success.

Rouse was a four-year starter, playing 2,551 career snaps for the Stanford Cardinal. Following the 2022 season, he opted to hit the transfer portal.

Immediately, he gained traction.

Oklahoma, Nebraska and Auburn picked up the phone, and Rouse opted to take a pair of visits to Norman and Lincoln.

He liked what he saw in Norman, but on Jan. 13 he instead pulled the trigger on committing to Matt Rhule’s Cornhuskers.

“My expectation going in Nebraska was very kind of low,” Rouse said in February. “But when I got there, I saw that it was very urban. Great coaches. Great people. And I think coming up I was just on this high.

“Like Nebraska’s really that place for me, that's the place where I want to go to and even though I had a great visit at Oklahoma … I was just more so just all focused on in Nebraska.”

I have no problem with how it was handled and you can't win em all...and I hate the to easy way to quit portal and NIL.

I wonder who or what we trot out today. Please don’t get HH hurt so we have to go back to the bozo who can’t help but lose
