Two Louisiana dog owners and a pal were collared for animal cruelty when a pooch was discovered with his back legs severed, officials said.

Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office said on Monday that an abandoned dachshund named Buddy was found at a Slidell trailer park with his hind legs “sawed off.”

Buddy had allegedly been shot in February 2019 but the owners never obtained proper medical care for the animal, officials said.

Instead, the dog suffered from paralysis and walked with his legs dragging behind him, resulting in sores, according to officials.

Buddy’s owners — a 50-year-old woman and her 17-year-old daughter — told authorities that his legs then “fell off” from being too tightly bandaged.

“However, detectives consulted with a board-certified veterinarian orthopedic surgeon, who concluded with certainty that the wounds on the dog’s hind legs were ‘maliciously inflicted’ and not removed by a veterinary professional nor by natural means,” deputies said.

The 50-year-old woman was arrested Monday and charged with cruelty to animals, while the teen daughter was arrested for aggravated cruelty to animals and booked into a juvenile detention center.

Authorities didn’t release the mother’s name because it might identify her minor daughter.

On Friday, a 17-year-old friend admitted to deputies that she abandoned the dog in the mobile home park. She also faces charges for cruelty to animals.

The sheriff’s office said that Buddy is in the care of local veterinarian and “recovering well.”
