Looks like some want another lockdown which could affect CFB, which could be as soon as Friday 8/13. With some fearing the delta variant.

What is the point of a poll like this on a Nebraska football board? You know the general political beliefs of the majority of Nebraskans, so you obviously know this thread is like throwing gasoline on a bonfire. Hopefully the moderators will start deleting these threads and handing out “vacations” for OP’s now that football season is about to begin.

Lockdowns mean no football or football with no fans. A messed up season like last year especially with big 10 leadership.

Hopefully you will be going on vacation as soon as the moderators see this thread. The reference to Biden/Fauci was especially cute. Shame on you.
If NY, CA and OR have lockdowns, do you think IL will be far behind?

So NYC just instituted a vaccine passport of sorts by requiring proof of vaccination to basically enter any indoor facility. Now, I know that most on the left believe that the majority of the anti-vaxers are white redneck conservatives, but roughly 40% of the adults that live in NYC aren't vaccinated yet. The borough of The Bronx is roughly half and half white and black, with 40% being latino, and that borough is believed to have around a half vaccinated at best.

Will there be any push back from the black and latino communities regarding this policy?

If there is one do you honestly expect it to be well publicized?

It really makes no sense to lockdown from an immunology or economic standpoint. So if they do it anyways, it’s just added confirmation that there is a deeper agenda to this.

1. Coronaviruses typically get weaker as they mutate (of course a scientifically engineered one may not)

2. We’re over 50% vaxxed and millions of people now have natural immunity. How could hospitals ever overcrowd now if they really mostly did not the first time and these vaccines are the best thing since sliced bread?

3. Deaths are way down and this economy cannot bare more lockdowns, more helicopter cash passed out as a fake security blanket

How do they know it is the Delta variant if the tests being administered are just normal covid tests?
If I understand correctly, if a person tests positive for COVID, then they will administer another test to determine the variant.

Pretty sure we're 70 percent vaxxed as a country. It's strictly political. Power hungry socialist idiots at this point. They don't care about lives or businesses. It's a pure power grab and it's gonna blow up in their faces. Already is.

This.

I am all for vaccines and Covid precautions such as masks until all people over toddler age can get a vaccine.

I am 1000% against lockdowns. Lockdowns are unnecessary and useless when far better options, such as masks and vaccines, are available.

Once everyone has the option to get a vaccine I’m all for eliminating all covid precautions in favor or natural selection.

Docs at the UNMC were predicting another airline shutdown around Labor Day. No idea how likely that is.

A better question is what's the point of you clicking on a thread and replying if it doesn't interest you?

Calm down with the censorship requests.

There's beens several articles in recent days.

""I am as worried about our children today as I have ever been. This virus, the Delta variant of COVID, is every infectious disease specialist's and epidemiologist's worst nightmare," said Dr. Mark Klein, Physician-in-Chief at Children's Hospital and a Professor of Pediatrics at LSUHSC and Tulane.""

Yet children are at less risk from Covid than the flu.

This is pure panic porn and fear mongering.

Notice how there are no numbers except 2000 "cases" for kids out of 11,000 total?

It's almost like they're mad kids didn't really get sick last year and they want to be able to shame people with sick kids now. Stay away from these grandstanding asshat.

Interesting since after all this time they’ve only just now admitted they can’t even test between the regular flu and Covid. I won’t be surprised one bit if kids get sicker with everything after being immunosuppressed for a year. Keeping their healthy immune systems bottled up was probably the biggest disservice we could’ve done them, now you’ll see the consequence, and you will miraculously watch them blame it on us unvaccinated boogeymen.

In fact it’s happening in New Zealand right now. Their hospitals are for real overcrowding with everything other than Covid because of their strict lockdowns. Yeaaaa let’s do that! 🤡

Couple of things I haven't seen brought up that are significant.

1. Supposing we determine this was a Chinese lab leak and not some randomly occuring thing, policy options available to the USG will widen in terms of couching response as national defense and emergency powers and all that.

2. South Dakota gov Noem has already indicated how this will mostly go. It's well accepted that employers have the right to set conditions of employment that include covid vaccination. Trump last year didn't move the ball on employer immunity but did quietly give them broad power under EEOC to ask questions and get employee data related to keeping covid out of their places of business. The only question now is how many employers nation wide set those conditions. Sure if you work for an anti-vax mom and pop machine shop near the Lake of the Ozarks you are probably going to not be required to have one, but most Americans who are employed by corporate America will probably have to choose between a jab and a different employer in the next six months or so.

Not being sick for a year is not immunosuppressed. There are adults who goes for years without being sick and when they finally catch a flu or whatever they aren't at higher risk of severe complications or death.

From what I have heard and read is that this Delta variant is more contagious but it doesn't seem to do the stuff to the lungs as bad as the original. There are some doctors that are saying that if we had just let the kids go to school and get the original virus and spread it around, protecting the vulnerable, there would be no delta and it wouldn't be affecting the kids. Who knows? I do believe the kids are getting hit harder now because there aren't as many adults that haven't had Covid or had the vaccine, but the kid's autoimmune systems are weaker because they were locked up at home instead of out doing kid stuff.

Not necessarily. One of my kids got it last weekend. They just took one test and didn't say only that it was positive for COVID-19

I think you are pretty accurate. Doj has said it's legal

Basically all I'm taking from the variant is that it's leaving kids alone less and I'll let the more enamored with whichever side of the political debate decide what they want vis a vis those observation.

This time last year we were all fairly certain kids were safe because cases for kids were low and severe complications or death were exceedingly rare.

Now we have in Louisiana at least approaching 25% of hospital cases are children in so many days.

Hopefully they all turn out fine and I'm sure many eventually will but there's a basic difference here in how exposed kids are in 2021.

Personally I think this will be a fairly short lived fight. About two thirds of the country is already got at least one shot but I haven't seen the numbers on two. The south is lagging behind but again a chunk of them will be have to figure out how much employer shuffling they can do, if any. People in certain large fields like medicine won't find alot of anti-vax options.

At some point someone will make the determination that this shot is required for school just like a half dozen others and so the vast majority of Americans born as of a certain date will have it. We're just talking about 30% of Americans in a transition period largely concentrated in a geographic area.

There will be some keyboard warriors who continue to flap their gums about revolution and what not but I don't see that happening. Noem is the canary in the coal mine for most reasonable folks.

Trust me. I don't know a whole lot about it. A ton of contradictory info out there too
Don’t I know it! We’re trying to make district-level decisions & having these conversations daily based on what we think we know at the time. It’s challenging! Time will tell how well our decisions were.

Where did that information come from?

What does Dr. Mark Klein, Physician-in-Chief at Children's Hospital and a Professor of Pediatrics at LSUHSC and Tulane stand to gain to fear monger and pedal panic porn?

I see this comment a lot and I have a hard time understanding how any Dr that shares concern is just fear mongering.
