Looking for some feedback on the actual chances of this happening.....
My wife has been a stay at home mom for the past 2 years and is wanting to get back into the workforce. She was an aquatics manager for MWR (military installations) and has managed multiple facilities with up to 60 people. She has decided that she no longer wants to do any type of facility management and instead wants to be an Human resource professional. She began to discuss her HR experience of personnel actions, writing position descriptions, equal opportunity issues and so on.
Anyway she seems to think that after getting the SHRM certification that she will be marketable as a HR professional WITH EXPERIENCE. Am I off base thinking that being a facility manager doesn't give you the experience necessary to compete for HR jobs? Is the SHRM cert that big of a deal?
Thanks for any feedback.
