The Athletic published a somewhat interesting look at which programs would've earned bids and when. NU would've made it 4x - 1998-2001.

ohiost leads the way with 18 playoff worthy seasons. next best b1g team is wisconsin with 8. purdue, rutgers, nw and minn (lol) all on the outside looking in.

IF the playoff was always around (even at 4) Nebraska would have 8+ titles. It's easier now when you get the playoff opportunity. Our 5 titles we had 0 total losses.

Perhaps, but we had 4 losses that season. Pretty hard for a 4 loss team to get into the playoffs.
