OK...no big shocker correct? A current Gov, the previous Gov, and the NTA have been calling for that to happen for a while now. Here is my concern part 2. These statements by the Commission itself.
John Chapo, chairman of the nine-member tourism board, declined to comment on whether board members were aware of the overspending. He has said board members could only act on information that was provided to them.
“We were very concerned when we received the audit; that’s why we’ve addressed it very aggressively,” said Chapo, who is director of the Lincoln Children’s Zoo.
That statement is either straight out of the 2003 Iraqi Information Minister's handbook of delusional press conferences or incredibly arrogant. Charlie Janssen was tipped off to do this audit months ago....so it apparently wasnt any big Watergate type uncovering that your Director Kathy McKillip was way off course on her duties and responsibility. You Sir were either not doing your job, or were blindly unaware of what was happening and not capable of doing your job as the overseer of this employee and the commission. His "Not going to drag our fee" on hiring the next Director should done in conjunction with Legislature and Gov Office oversight. That commission has not demonstrated enough good faith to be hiring anyone without some type of supervision. Pete....leadership time!!
